Alright, i would like to swap a Ej22T in to an older impreza coupe. My question is, should i use a standard 2.5L aftermarket header(like twe or boral) and get a custom uppipe/downpipe made(see my thread about the use of my t3/t4 garret turbo). I would need a these pieces fabricated anyhow. or should i go with aftermarket wrx header?

My vote is either use the stock EJ22T header (flows pretty good) or an aftermarket WRX one (bolts right up). Then you only have to worry about your up-pipe and down-pipe.

I personally would use the TWE ewual length header because of its equal lengths = less turbulance and its 4-1 merge collector = even less turbulance. But does a header for a 2.5L phase 2 fit an EJ22T?

The 2.2T and 2.5L both have dual-outlet heads, so I don't see this as a problem. And don't some wrx guys use the n/a bloack built up with stock wrx headers (which are the exact same header as the 2.2T)?

Wow, can't believe no one caught this. You cannot just use a WRX header as it will run into the crossmember on the Impreza.
We call this the Turbo Xmember, and NA Xmember. Each has to be used w/ its respective header.
The reason that us AFI guys are using 'custom up pipes' is so that we dont have to remove the NA Xmember.
IF you want to use the WRX header, you will have to pull out the Xmember and swap in a Turbo Xmember.
This can be found on a Turbo Legacy or a WRX. Both bolt up to the GC8 Chassis, and runs about 150 bucks new. It is kinda a pain to swap it out though, I believe you have to pull the engine.
If you want custom up pipe, you can use a stock RS header or Aftermarket Upgraded one. www.uniquemotorsports sells the up pipe for 220 bucks. You will then need his downpipe, and have the missing portion of exhaust put in.
Hope that helps.

well i would assume that if he is doing a 2.2t swap that he knows he needs to use the wrx/leg turbo x member.
just get a borla header for the wrx, they are cheap and produce good numbers.
