First, you will have better luck getting replies in the Factory 2.0L Turbo forum or the Newbies forum.
Don't waste your time or money on an intake system.. I have heard alot of negative things about them. Get new tires and a turboback exhaust to start with.

Because they change the MAF sensor, and the ECU adjusts for the old one. Some have seen gains by it leaning out the A/F (but for how long...what happens when ECU is reset), some have lost power, and some have even gone way lean and melted a piston.
In theory, you are right. But not in reality. An ECU tuned for an intake is a different matter. But for the small compressor inlet diameter, the factory intake box is quite free flowing compared to other cars.

yes, stay with stock intake and buy turbo back exhaust as first mod.

Sorry your post turned in to this, unfortunately that is what has become of these forums.
Congrats on your car, quite a present I must say. I would encourage that you use the search function to find out what route will best suit you. I would suggest a turbo back as well to begin with. The tires are not the best, but I would wear them out before I spent money on some new ones.
Be safe and have fun.

We tell people to run the FACTORY airbox and "people that build cars and work for production" (im guessing you mean like, subaru or something) must laugh?

I have got a very simple solution for you.
Give www.ultimate-racing.com a call tell them how much $$ you want to spend and they will fix you up. They got the fastest no NOS WRX and the fastest STI.
Congrats on your new car.
