is there a high wattage harness for the stock h1's in the MY04? i am going to be replaceing the bulbs with some that i got for Xmas and wanted to not melt anything. especially considering that the only thing the harness has is a little plastic gcover that would become go0 if over heated.

Do not use high wattage for the stock h1's... If you want more light just Install HID. I had install HID h1 for my wrx 04.

yes i would install the HID, but well some of us dont have the money for the HIDs....so that is why i was asking...there has to be a harness.....anyone with ideas?

i have no idea how their upgraded harness will work with your headlights, new bulbs, car etc. but i think that's what you are asking about?

i have only heard bad things from people using higher wattage bulbs. not sure if a new harness would help?

i have only heard bad things from people using higher wattage bulbs. not sure if a new harness would help? yeah that is pretty much what i am looking for...using high wattage bulbs with stock systems that are made to handle 55W will cause a lot of damage....more than likely frying the connector and melting the taps. a hig wattage harness get extra power from the batter to increase the power to the lights, thus preventing the damage from the bulbs.

Maybe I'm wrong but I put 100watt PIAA H-1's in my fog lights and haven't had any problems in 2 years. In a couple days I'm putting Laminex yellow films over the fogs.

Did the same thing on my Cherokee fog lights, plus cutting out the reflectors. No problems.

On the WRX I'm running Hella FF300's (the oblique shaped one, I think it's the FF300) with 130 watt bulbs, through a relay and a switch powered off high beams., mounted on top of the front bumper cover.

I found a good local shop that did the Hella install, at least until he dented a fender during a "portering"... and denied it. I put a angled grey vinyl fender stripe over it after my body shop smoothed it out. Hate to have a fender repainted because it'll always chip.

I also have higher wattage bulbs(100w) in my 04 (all except the low beams). Mine has been fine so far (a few months). If your that worried about it, you can always just run a relay to the lights & just have your existing wire trigger the relay to came on! That way there is no more current going through your factory wires than normal, All the necessary current will be coming from the battery through the relay & your factory wire will just tell the relay to switch on! Problem solved!... Just don't melt your head light housings. I doubt that will happen. Hope this helps.

the www.suvlights.com harness is well made, pretty good components and thicker wires. I had it in for a while, but I don't think it actually improved the light output, but it was reassuring to have it there when I was running higher wattage 9007s. After installing HIDs, I ended up cutting it up and using it in my current set up. Jen the guy that owns the place, is okay to deal with, but it always takes forever to get anything out of him, and he always seems to have an excuse. The products are good but the service is a little lacking, certainly much lower than what I have gotten used to dealing with our NASIOC vendors. :D
