The connector is melting because...A.) Your bulb is drawing too much current maybe B.) You have a crappy ground for your headlights. Add another ground wire to each head lamp. C.) The connection itself is heating up and charring so the connect is getting even worse so it will heat up even more becomming a big frigging mess.
Go buy new connectors from almost any store and tap on an additional ground wire to each.
I work for a shop and we had this happen wit numerous cars after different bulbs were installed. It;s the ground, trust me. Really ther eis only 2 wires used at any one time. The common one is the ground. It is the guilty one.

i bought the connectors from napa but now after i spliced the right headlight it shows in my gauge cluster my highbeam light is brighter. Also..when i put on the highbeams ..the right headlight doesn't shine bright.

You can't add "ground" wires. The Subaru headlight system is common positive, switched ground. There is no direct ground connection at the headlights.

Ok, flip it then. The positive needs some work maybe.
I usually see this stuff in common ground systems. Especially if the car was hit in the front end. My point is, somewhere ther is a poor connection.
