Went on a road trip with my subaru impreza outback. The noise inside the car was unbareable. Is the road noise in the impreza suppose to be this loud? Just taken it to the dealer for a 23000 mile oil change. I told them about the noise they said that there was nothing wrong.

It isn't the quietest car when it comes to interior noise, but it shouldn't be unbearable. Take it to the dealer and have them check your rear wheel bearings while you're still under warranty. They can create a loud howl when failing, and defective (premature wear) rear wheel bearings isn't uncommon for your vehicle. Have them check your window gaskets (where the frameless windows makes the top seal to the roof area. Check your tires for proper inflation (stock is 32 psi front, 29 rear).
One long trip noise reduction trick for my 97 obs is to open the front doors while stopped, hit the switch to roll up the windows, then close the doors. Don't roll down the windows while underway. Inconvenient, yes, but it cuts down on wind noise.
If you're not too into performance but do like a quiet car, shop around for a "quiet" tire when you're ready for a new set. Tell any decent tire store that you're looking for a quiet touring tire and they'll point you in the right direction.

 you need to cut back on driving so much. sheesh.
My RS is full of noises from springs in the sunroof rattling to the dash creeking...I just accept it as the cars character because I'm not willing to take apart my dash to figure out whats making noises or my sunroof assembly to replace springs.

My RS is extremely noise too. I was able to cut a lot of wind noise down by placing a strip of weather striping along the lip that the sun roof rests on while its closed.
Also as soon as I start moving I flick the drivers side window down about an inch and then close it again that takes care of some more wind noise.
I have thought about putting some sound deading insulation in the floor of the trunk because I think there is a lot of sound from the rear tires getting deflected off the truck lid back into the car.

What kind of weather stripping you used? Where you get it? How to you fit the weather stripping in ??
I got a very loud wind noise from the sunroof also. I'd like to know how to minimize that. Road noise is another minus. But I think it's from my summer tires that I've just replaced.

Can you be more specific about the noise?
My '00 RS is relatively quiet. The usual Impreza trim creaks and glove box door squiggles, but certianly nothing that makes it unbearable, even with the noisy Kumhos on it.
With no stereo on during a freeway cruise, I hear tire noise first, then wind noise, then exhaust noise. All are easily drowned out by conversation or music.
