I'd guess that one is a tach and the other is vacuum or intake manifold pressure. (like non-BF DefiLink gauges). http://www.defi-shop.com/product/meter/meter_type.html

Is it just me or is the Super Sports Cluster just the baddest thing ever? Countdown to seeing it in a car magazine starts NOW.:D

I have a question. In the picture it shows a CUver2 daisy chained to some oversized 'turbo' and tach gauges. Can multiple gauges of the same type be run by a CU? Example: a metric 'turbo' and Imperial 'boost' gauge...and maybe an 'intake manifold pressure'??

why would you want two boost gauges? 1 bar = 14.5 psi. Plain and simple :) Thank god I don't have an STi, or I'd be kicking myself over these. Anyone who wants some badass gauges, look no further.

8complex - Sorry! Jet lag causing the brain not to work properly.

zacinerro - We do not have an ETA yet, pricing has not yet been released either. Believe me we are hounding DEFI every chance we get :)

Qbushido & Still Will - Pricing should be fairly similar. There has been talk about lowering the gauge prices, but this is in the face of the steadily weakening dollar, so I would imagine pricing would be similar.

STIDayDreaming - Didn't know they had 52mm BF gauges. Where did you get these? We are very interested!

RonaldWRX - No clue! I was trying to ask but the rep could not speak english, and our translator was off looking at the girls! :p We should have more info shortly.

Aspera - Sorry no BF tach or Imperial gauges on the horizon. I know DEFI considered making the imperial, but apparently costs could not justify it for now. Yes multiple types of gauges can be run by 1 CU as long as they are of the same type (BF or non-BF).

We will let everyone know as soon as we receive our first shipment of these gauges (AFAIK they have not been released yet).

Keep this thread updated to the prices and functions of the new cu and bf's, please. If the new functions warrant a upgrade I might just have to. I just hope there's still a market for the old bf's when these new ones come out.

Plus if the new cu ver. 2.5 gets rid of the oil pressure gauge alarm function when the engine is off and acc is on I will definitely at least get the new cu. I just hate that I can't sit in the car at the gas station or whatnot and be able to listen to the radio without that infernal beeping.

As for current product line, BF tachometer is not available.
BF gauges are only available for 60mm.

For amber-red illumination gauges for BF gauges at the show, variety is same as Defi-Link Meters.
However, they are only trial products.
Details has not been fixed yet.

3)Will the ALL RED gauges be available in Imperial Units?

So far, we do not plan the Imperial version for BF gauges.
However, we guess it should be researched.

4)When will Super Sports Clusters be offered to the USA?
It is also under development.

5)What does the Controller Unit 2.5 do different than the Controller Unit 2?
According to many request for BF Tachometer, Control Unit II can not be operated.
So in order to operate Tachometer for BF, Control Unit 2.5 makes it possible.
For other functions, at this stage, we are sorry for inability to answer this question.

In reverse, we were wondering if you could give us your idea which function you would like to add.
Any comments would be highly appreciated for our further development.

6)What does the Indicator II do?
It is bigger than current Defi-Link Indicator. And it has 2 LEDS inside.
So it would be able to be set at 3 stages for shift-up point or warning.

We hope this information will help your understanding.

Thanks for the heads up aspera. I might have to do that since its pretty silly for that oil pressure alarm to go off when the car is off. Of course theres no oil pressure, the engine not freakin on.

Why don't we all send our concerns to Defi individually and importantly -> note where we discuss the topics on Nasioc? The more feedback we get into Defi the better chance we may actually get what we want(ex. Imperial boost -> PSI), that is if their research department is listening. I would think our type of feedback(especially with such a large user base on Nasioc) would be very useful in helping them move their products in the States.
Our concerns are probably much more wide spread than just us writing here.... I know in my line of work user feedback is essential to development of the product and direction for details of appearance & functionality. Can't hurt to try, lets give it a shot. I'm going to send my info. now. Mo' the merrier! :)

1. The DEFI BF red/red is not released yet. They do not have a solid release date as of yet.

2. The DEFI BF red/red *MAY* be priced a little higher due to additional development costs. We are imploring them to keep the price the same. They may or may not take our advice. :(

3. The DEFI BF series (all) now include tachometer.

4. The V2.5 Control unit allows the use of the DEFI BF tachometer. This may not be released until the end of 2004.

2. Higher? They are stratospherically priced now. They need to do as much as possible to expand from the sport compact car market into the hotrod, custom,rallycar, grassroots, racecar, pony, and muscle car markets. That means Imperial. I'd love to see a Highboy with a Super Sports Cluster.:D

I completely agree, Imperial should be a must. I sent email to Defi with a request for Imperial and my email response stated that no imperial gauges were under development. We need to let them know thats what the customers want.... Poor on the email. On the bigger picture there could definately be a market for the red-on-red gauges in street rods, muscle cars, etc... They need to figure there is a bigger market to win over, Imperial gets them closer.
I'm interested in the gauges but I want PSI. Well a lot of Hot Rods - Resto-Mods are going with www.dakotadigital.com gauges. Maybe they could hook us up if Defi is not willing. Use the Defi Dash Hood and Dakota gauges. They will custom gauge almost anything. I know with Classic cars if there is enough interest they will mass produce or custom to taste. Talk about a sweet setup. Anyone else interested, I'll contact DakotaDigital if enough people respond and see what we can do. 60mm gauges EGT, OP, Boost(PSI)?
The gauges black out like the BF's, usually they are purely digital with a electronic sweep(doubt we could do the needle). But Blacked-out with Red digital and a 180 degree sweep would look pretty cool in a Defi Gauge hood. Check out the website and let me know. If nothing jumps out we can always request a custom job, if you send the cluster or dash hood they will try to fill it. :o)

i NEED these gauges!

we had a thread going last year to bug defi to make sti look gauges, looks like they listened (or maybe they started before we griped). anyway this is great news, put me down for a set!

Dont know if I can wait too much longer(like months)!...these guages are holding me up from ordering engine mods! I need to 'baseline' the stock boost before I start messing with it. Defi needs to start pumpin' these babies out soon!

Woah I just found this thread. I've wanted defi bf in red forever. Awesome!! And it sucks to have to wait til summer :(, but it's so freakin cold here I couldn't install them until then anyway :)

Actually when I spoke to them they said 4th quarter 2004 so October at best but I'd say closer to 1 year from today before we get production versions.

Well... my birthday is in October, maybe someone will buy me a nice birthday present. :D

FYI, in the same booth at IAS there was a very nice guy who's company makes OEM quality pod gauges. They have a DEFI replica piece that holds either 52mm or 60mm gauges and has some optional colored inerts. Really nice quality stuff. He also mentioned that he was looking into making a revision to angle the guages for us LHD drive folks.

Thanks! I bought my Defi guage pod through Dan at Godpseed(Godspeedinc.com), and YES it was PREPAINTED(thank goodness). I hate painting stuff(I suck) so that was a nice service. I believe Dan is the only retailer for the Defi pods that sells them prepainted to match your dash. It turned out pretty nice I think. What's cool is that Dan has them 'texturized' when painted so that they match the factory dash's 'dullness.'

The AutoTech Interiors pods seem wild with the inserts, hmmmm. Appreciate the info. Tough day today, they were mowing lawns today at work and shot a rock right through my passenger side tail light(shatterrrrrrrr). Ughhhh! I was pissed! Well new one ordered and on its way, the landscaper said they would refund the cost. What a day. :confused:

I have a grip of mods being installed by Memorial Day weekend(full TBE, ported VF34, header & uppipe) so I needed the guages as early as possible. I was going to wait just like you and Rick(aka puss) but the mods came faster than expected. Nevertheless, I am happy with the white BF's.

hope you guys don't have to wait any longer than this summer for the red BF's, Rick may jump ship...but thats another story :D

It says the Defi Link BF Amber gauges and the Defi Link Indicator II will be released in August.
