View Full Version : Omori 45mm Full Color Gauge GB
J-Spec Tuning 01-17-2004, 07:27 PM Hi All,
We've had a number of req for 45mm STi-Look gauges in EGT, Oil Temp and Oil Press. These gauges have a red needle with a fully adjustable backlighting that can match the STi or the 04 WRX. They come in imperial measurements - PSI or degree F. The electrical gauge comes with all the sending units for a complete install. We will not be bringing in mechanical oil press or mechanical oil temp gauges. The prices below includes shipping to the 48 lower states. CA residents will have to add 8.25% sls tax.
When we get 6 orders for a set of 3 gauges, we're good to go and I'll submit the order. Manufacturing of these gauges take approx 1 month.
A non-refundable deposit of 10% will be needed prior to order submission.

Roamin'Coyote 01-18-2004, 12:06 AM is there a difference in accuracy for the mechanical and electrical boost gauges? In other words, why would I choose one over the other? Would one work better in an 02 OEM column mount?
Thanks!
wYlie
J-Spec Tuning 01-18-2004, 01:58 PM Hi Wylie,
There really isn't a difference in accuracy between the mechanical and electrical gauges. Both would work equally well in the 02 OEM mount so unless you really require an electrical boost gauge, I would just go with a mechanical one. If you have an 02 WRX, we have those gauges already in stock. No need for a group buy.
For the oil press and oil temp, the big disadvantage of mechanical gauges is that you have to bring the oil (via steel braided hoses) through the firewall of your car and to the gauge.
Thanks,
Thaison

Julio 01-25-2004, 08:21 PM Thaison:
Im in for Boost (in PSI), EGT, And Oil Pressure. ALL electric.
Let me know when/where to send my $45 deposit.
mauahah 01-26-2004, 01:03 PM I may be in for Electric boost, EGT and Oil temp
Are the prices for the electric gauges only for the group buy?? If I buy a set of Omori gauges do i need to buy anything like a control unit, like the Defi gauges??
TopKatz 01-26-2004, 01:12 PM Thaison:
Im the guy you just sent a EGT out to(thanks by the way). Im not sure if IM suposed to do my oil press gauge throught he GB, or what....
TheMadScientist 01-26-2004, 01:15 PM Do these fit in the stock gauge pod?
TMS
Julio 01-26-2004, 01:39 PM Mauhaha: You don't need any controller. Just get he gauges, and pod.
TMS: you need to slightly modify the gauge pod. You just need to file a bit and that's it. Perfect fit.
Julio 02-02-2004, 07:18 PM Thaison:
I think you should make a new thread, and specify these group buy is for 04 STi style look gauges. This one is not attracting readers! :( Also, you may create a post in the For Sale area.
KINGSKY 02-04-2004, 10:50 AM do they come in white face also?
RANDi
TopKatz 02-04-2004, 10:54 AM any status on these? Im starting to question if going this route was a wise move(45mm 04 look gauge). I curently have two gauges (EGT and bost) but I still nead one more... however nobody has them!
TheMadScientist 02-04-2004, 10:58 AM I have to wait until my paypal transfer goes through, takes about 4 days.
I would like:
Mechanical boost...$110
Electrical EGT...$150
Electrical oil temp...$125
Can you send a pic of on of the gauge faces to mmurray@rfmd.com
Thanks
TMS
Julio 02-04-2004, 11:55 AM Thaison:
Please don't leave us hanging... :( We are REALLY interested in these, but you haven't shown in here since Jan 18th!
J-Spec Tuning 02-04-2004, 04:39 PM Sorry guys,
I haven't look at this thread for a week and noticed that there were a number of responses.
At this point, I have asked Omori JPN if we can make this happen with just 5 of each type of gauge. If the answer is yes, then I will go through with the GB with the interest that stands.
So to recap, I would be ordering 45mm EGT, elec oil temp and oil press gauge in the red needle/full color config.
If they come back and say yes, the gauges would arrive by early March.
Thanks,
Thaison
Julio 02-04-2004, 04:48 PM Tahison:
And Boost...
I need Boost/EGT/Oil Press 04 STi style look.
TopKatz 02-04-2004, 08:57 PM Electric bost?
Julio 02-04-2004, 09:51 PM No, Boost with 04 STi look style. Electric boost..
Julio 02-05-2004, 10:59 AM Thaison: Since these will be special order, can I order the boost gauge with 30 psi instead of 25? (just wondering...)

Same here I need at least 30psi range.
TMS
J-Spec Tuning 02-06-2004, 02:56 PM We cannot produce 30 PSI boost gauges since it is not in Omori Meter's current line up. It's not just a matter of getting the face developed for 30PSI but it also involves new sensors and associated electronics. That is something we can't afford to develop given the demand for 30psi boost gauges.
Thaison
Julio 02-06-2004, 04:02 PM No problem Thaison... Just asked in case it could be had as a bonus. :) Anyways, please let me know when/were I can send my $45 deposit for the gauges.
TheMadScientist 02-09-2004, 05:42 AM I am out of this since the 30psi is not an option.
Thanks
TMS
TopKatz 02-09-2004, 07:41 AM Any word back from Omori?

wrrrx 02-12-2004, 06:24 PM Is it too late to get in on this?
hope not!

Julio 02-12-2004, 07:09 PM Russ: No, it's not late... In fact, we need more people to get this going on!
AoR STI 02-13-2004, 10:51 AM IS there any pic on these gauges? i want to see how it really looks before i buy them I also need 3 gauges. Ele boost, EGT, Oil Pressure. and Pods. PLease let me know where i have to make the payments and etc.
J-Spec Tuning 02-14-2004, 12:00 AM Hi All,
We are placing an order in for the following
5 Electrical boost
5 EGT
5 Oil Press
5 Oil Temp
I will be getting a pic of the 45mm STi look boost gauge up. Unfortunately, we don't have any other gauge to take pics of. The EGT, Oil Press and Oil Temp looks the same except it has the degree Farenheit as measurements.
I will adjust the first listing to show who has ordered so far.
Thanks,
Thaison
AoR STI 02-14-2004, 03:56 AM Are DIN panels same as pod?
J-Spec Tuning 02-14-2004, 01:27 PM Hi,
DIN panels go onto the OEM Subaru center pod. When you buy just the center pod (no gauges), the panel to hold the gauges are missing. The Omori 45mm DIN panel can be installed in the center pod for to hold the 45mm gauges.
Thanks,
Thaison

TopKatz 02-15-2004, 07:41 PM Im out of this GB guys. I came up with a better solution for my neads.

Julio 02-15-2004, 09:33 PM Thaison: Please also add the din panel from Omori to my order. I just sold mine, and had to give away the panel with them.
(The driver-faced ones)
wrrrx 02-16-2004, 09:23 AM Sorry guys- I need 52's or 60's, so I'm not gonna join this buy. :(
I jumped the gun- I saw "group buy" and "Omori"!
Thaison, I'll be contacting you shortly...

Julio 03-07-2004, 08:51 PM Thaison:
Almost 2 months have passed. I NEED the gauges, please let me know when these will arrive!
Rebellion 03-11-2004, 08:47 AM what's the differecne between Full Color and WRX-Look guages?
TopKatz 03-11-2004, 08:56 AM They basicaly stoped making the old wrx style gauges.... the color ones alow for you to dial in a color for the backlight... so the same gauge could look like sti or wrx.
Julio 03-11-2004, 11:49 AM TopKatz:
Unfortunately I just received an e-mail from Thaison, stating that since most of the people interested in buying the STi look gauges in 45mm, backed out, they will not bring these. :furious:  :o
I was STILL under the impression, these were a special custom order. As said by Thaison, only 5 sets were being broght for sale
Well, I will sell my Omori gauges, and since I personally think the 52mm gauges black ring is ugly as sin (too bold) I guess I will get the Defi BF serie when they come out in STI look.
TopKatz 03-11-2004, 11:56 AM Julio - I saw this comming two months ago. I also was not happy with the other options, and realy wanted the 45mm stuff... Ill tell you what I did.
I already had a 45mm bost and egt in the 04 look. These two gauges cost me about 260 for them. Nobody had, or had any plans to get any more 04 look 45mm gauges. So I contacted Omori my self about a month ago. They said they would make a gauge for me if I wanted. The price was 27k yen(about 230) to have one oil presure gauge made up and shiped out if Im not mistaken. They said it would take 30 days to make and ship out.
I recived my gauge last saturday. It looks just like the other two I had already bought.
Although the gauge cost me more money then it should have... in the end I got what I wanted. Not only that, but to turn around and sell my used gauges at a loss..then go out and buy lets say a set of defies I would have spent substantialy more then I did in the end.... so to me, in this case... it made sense to do it this way.
If your intersted I can get you the contact info at Omori to get the ball rolling.
Katz
Julio 03-11-2004, 12:03 PM Katz: Ohh yes! Please let me know the info. I will contact them ASAP!
TopKatz 03-11-2004, 12:19 PM OK ....
first go here and find the gauge/gauges you want.
http://www.omorimeter.co.jp/english.html
Be sure that you get the right part numbers and description. For instance my first e-mail asked about:
"1 3/4" (45mm) AEP-015-BZ, electrical oil press. meter with black face, green backlight and red needle"
Then E-mail this guy over at Omori....
cibrian@omorimeter.co.jp
if you want tell him Mike Katz told you to contact him. He runns the over seas department.
That should get you going. Keep in mind when contacting them that they are in Japan, and that you probaly wont hear back for a day or so.
Hope that helps... keep us posted on what hapens....
Katz
Julio 03-11-2004, 12:28 PM Katz:

E-mail sent with request. :disco:
thechoochman28 03-21-2004, 02:12 AM it's almost the end of the month...are your 52mm gauges in yet?
Julio 03-21-2004, 08:21 AM Katz:
Thanks, again. Order placed! :disco:
TopKatz 03-21-2004, 09:41 AM Im glad things worked out for you Julio....

strohausii 04-02-2004, 08:54 AM ...so, am I reading correctly that there are no more 45mm mech. boost gauges for 02 wrx color match? (or is that the one you keep in stock?)
Julio 04-02-2004, 12:26 PM strohausii:
Even if there were no more... you could order an electrical one directly to Omori. Price difference is not that much, and will be a lot more precise.
