Im wiring my radar detector up shortly and i figured i would run it into the clock. The problem is im not sure how the clock shroud comes out on an 04 Sti. Im sure it just pops out but im trying to find out if you need to pull it up from the back, sides, front, whatever.

Obviously i dont want to break it

Any help is appreciated thanks.

IF I remember correctly, it has 2 clips in the front, near the edges and 2 (?) clips in the rear.

Use a flat screwdriver (with a towel to cover the end) and SLOWLY pry one front edge up slightly, then the other side, then back, etc. ...do this carefully and the back will move enought for you to be able to unclip the whole thing.

Be careful, but it is meant to be a peice that can be taken off and on more than once.

I would recommend against using a screwdriver from the top - it takes nothing to scratch/dent the dash (unless that doesn't matter, in which case have at it) - removal of the clock is easy - either pull it straight up and out (you have to pull pretty hard) - or remove the trim/vent assembly in the center of the dash, then use a screwdriver to push the two hooks on the front of the clock off, then lift it up and out.

Pushing the hooks from underneath did nothing for me. What finally worked was pulling - HARD - much much harder than you think you need to. Maybe put some wiggle into it, too.

I gave up on the damn clock, and wired mine to the plug for the compass/mirror and was done with it.
