View Full Version : which is a better hid kit Genner 01-25-2004, 02:18 AM MuCulloch HID or phillips Hid nhluhr 01-25-2004, 06:18 AM phillips is the HIGHEST quality you can get. Mulder 01-25-2004, 07:38 AM Phillips doesn't make kits, they make the HID components (ballasts, bulbs). Kits using Phillips or Hella electronics, and also German bulbs, are of much higher quality than those using cheaper Asian ones. Of course it's getting harder to find aftermarket HIDs now that NHTSA has been enforcing the ban on them and many vendors no longer carry them. kungfooren 01-25-2004, 03:00 PM yeh. philips is great. muccolluch is actually really good. you'd be surprised. plus, it's dogg a$$ cheap. :) i reallly don't know where you can find a philips kit. try ebay? Genner 01-25-2004, 06:44 PM so is there any difference between the MuCulloch and phillips ballast? Are they pretty much comparable such as connectors, replacement bulbs, quality? Hank3 01-25-2004, 06:51 PM Quality seems to be better with the Philips unit. Subie2.5RS2003 01-25-2004, 07:50 PM phillips does not make kits ... they make systems for car (benz, bimmers etc) all of those kits are pieced to gether and get a phillips sticker put on them. hidplace.com 4npower 01-26-2004, 01:50 AM Witch has a better beam pattern >? Genner 01-26-2004, 04:00 AM can you swap between a phillip's ballast bulb with a muCulloch ballast bulb? If you can't, why not? Mulder 01-26-2004, 07:44 AM Depends on the output wiring of the ballast. OEM-type ballasts such as Phillips or Hella will usually have a cable with a standard D2-type bulb connector which fits OEM-type D2S or D2R bulbs. Aftermarket ballasts/ignitors and bulbs use wire leads with different connectors so they are not interchangeable. Genner 01-26-2004, 02:17 PM would you happen to know if the MuCulloch ballast have the same connectors at the hella/phillips ballast? Mulder 01-26-2004, 07:34 PM I don't think so, but you'd have to actually compare them to be sure. |
