tribegolfer 02-12-2004, 09:27 AM Any sort of package deal with rotors, pads, lines, and fluid??
Rock_Strongo 02-12-2004, 02:12 PM Will the front KVR pads fit a 2001 2.5RS with stock calipers and rotors?
If so, how much shipped to 01879?
iON Performance Inc 02-12-2004, 08:42 PM khail19 - check your PM's
tribegolfer - If you purchase F&R's together, they've been already further discounted. You will save some $ in the shipping when you get rotors, lines, pads and fluid together vs. separately.
02redwrx - Yes the pads will fit. Total for payment via MO is $80.99US.
WS6toWRX 02-12-2004, 09:56 PM the pads, how do they compare to the Carbotech Bobcats? I was told that for autoX and such you need a better brake pad. ALso, the rotors, how many times can they be turned? HOw long could I use them for? What kind of pad wear should i expect? 10k miles?
thx
iON Performance Inc 02-13-2004, 03:45 AM WS6toWRX - The pads are designed for hi-performance street, auto-x and some light light track use (not for lapping days). Not having used the Bobcats before, we can't give a direct comparison. There are many members on this board the GC body style RS' along with Legacy GT's who've used our rotor & pad combo and have absolutely loved it. Some have used them for auto-x, and some for light track.
The rotors can be turned down to stock limits. It really depends on how warped they'll become after your use. In regards to pad wear, again, it depends on your usage. Some people have been able to get 25K+ miles on them.
rlavalle 02-19-2004, 07:33 PM After a handful of aggressive track days, my stock USDM STi rotors are developing micro cracks... probably onle a couple track days left on them.
Are the iON/KVR 2-piece STi/Brembo replacement rotors track worthy?
How much for replacement disks when they wear out?
Thanks,
Russ
iON Performance Inc 02-21-2004, 04:11 AM rlavalle - Which pads are you currently using on your STi for track days? If you're using these for track only, the slotted versions are highly recommended.
We haven't had any issues with our 2-piece rotors under track conditions.
Replacement discs are ~$250US each, however when it comes time to replace, all you need to do is to send them back to us and we'll install the new rotors as well as dynamically balance them again.
rlavalle 02-21-2004, 04:54 AM For track days, I've used Porterfield R4 pads and Carbotech Panther XP's.
So the $250/disk includes replacement at your location?
Thanks,
Russ
TheWRX 02-21-2004, 09:52 AM What's the price of the 2-piece rotors for a WRX with OEM brakes? How much lighter are they compared to the stock rotors?
iON Performance Inc 02-22-2004, 01:36 AM rlavalle - $250US/disc includes the labor for doing the swap over etc. All you need to do is pay for the rotors and the shipping back & forth.
In regards to track pads, you may want to consider trying the Ferrodo DS3000, they are VERY good.
TheWRX- the 2-piece rotors for the stock WRX braking system are $649US/pair + shipping. They are ~5lbs lighter compared to the stock ones. Best of all though, is the internal cooling is superior compared to the OEM rotors since they're directionally viened/vented as well.

jjunior887 03-10-2004, 02:01 PM Hey ion what do the single piece rotors weigh compared to the stock ones, are they about the same?
iON Performance Inc 03-10-2004, 03:14 PM jjunior887 - the 1 -piece rotors weigh in the same for the plain versions. The x-drilled or slotted versions are slightly less weight (~150-350g lighter/rotor).
iON Performance Inc 03-15-2004, 04:09 PM bump :)
Tigris 03-15-2004, 05:45 PM do you have the h6 rear rotors?
iON Performance Inc 03-15-2004, 11:32 PM Tigris - nope we don't have any H6 sized rears.
JDM addict 03-24-2004, 02:31 AM I just wrote a review on their 2-pieces front brake rotor for the STi, it got much better and bigger pics installed on a STi there, check it out.

MustGoFast 04-10-2004, 06:28 PM I'm interested in a set of your kVR cf pads.. .. wondering how these are for low temps? dusting? noise?
I need a low temp brake here in WI, noise would be a real PITA.. and dusting I can kinda live w/ but would prefer not to have to much of... I only need these for agressive street, occasional autoX, but no track.
ac64drew 04-11-2004, 06:16 AM how much is your ap racing big brake front kit for wrx?
iON Performance Inc 04-12-2004, 05:38 AM MustGoFast - the pads operate at low temps very nicely. Noise will be similar to an OE pad, just slightly more. Dust is relatively low dust compared to other compounds available.
These pads are intended for street use and auto-x use.
ac64drew - We've got 2 versions of BBK's for the WRX. Both of them are 4pot set-ups, however one will fit under the stock 16x6.5" WRX wheels (which makes it great for those who use their stockers for winter or track use). The other set-up requires a minimum of 17" wheels to clear. Both feature 2-piece floating rotors (the smaller BBK is 12.2" and the larger is 13").
Please email us for further details.
MustGoFast 04-12-2004, 03:30 PM How do I order? I'll have $ Fri.
iON Performance Inc 04-14-2004, 03:07 AM MustGoFast - drop us an email -> sales@ionperformance.com
RafalW 04-20-2004, 12:57 PM So how many track days I can expect to get out of these rotors and DS3000s on my STi? I know my fronts at the last track (OEM rotors with DS2500) were out of scale and rears were at over 700F.
Which are better for my application? Plain or slotted?
iON Performance Inc 04-20-2004, 09:32 PM RafalW - The slotted rotors are more suited for track use. Being that you're using the DS3000's in the front, they will work much better with the rotors at the track. Are you using the stock pad compound for the rears? or have you gone to the DS2500's in the rear as well?
The life expectancy is a hard thing to specifically pin-point, as it's a function of the track, how hard you are on the brakes, pad compounds etc etc. If they're properly broken in, you will definately maximize the life out of the pad and rotor.

I use DS2500 in the rear. I'd like to switch only fronts for a track.

Can you give me an example to have any idea? I just wonder if they will last as long as OEM rotors with DS2500, longer od just about half the distance? The track I go to most often is Gingerman.
iON Performance Inc 04-22-2004, 01:52 AM RafalW - If they're properly broken in, they will last as long if not slightly longer then your stock rotors. Note that the DS3000 pad is a harsher pad vs. the DS2500's, so depending on which part of the operating temperature curve you're on for the pad, the friction will also help determine the wear.
iON Performance Inc 04-26-2004, 07:29 PM update - We just recently recieved a few sets of DS2500 pads for the FHI 2pot & 4pot fronts and 1-pot rears as well :)
mrscary 04-27-2004, 01:00 AM Jack thanks for the fast reply, Just sent you paypal for some goodies!
RafalW 05-07-2004, 07:30 PM Is it a good idea to swap between DS2500 and DS3000 at front (for a track) without worrying about too much bedding?
Will DS2500 at rear and DS3000 at front work well?
Will EBD even out different braking force front/rear?
chrislehr 05-08-2004, 01:57 PM Where are the fluids?
iON Performance Inc 05-10-2004, 06:46 PM RafalW - yes, it is a good idea to use track pads on the track to extend the life of the rotors. If you use pads that are not up to the task of the heat generated by certain tracks (from braking) then you'll just end up destroying the rotors early.
Yes the DS3000 F & the DS2500 rears will work very well.
chrislehr - which fluids are you referring to?
WRC51 05-18-2004, 12:13 PM Sent u an email. Nice to have a CDN vendor!

Cryo treatment normally make metal stronger, my guess is it would make the rotor last longer? Any other advantages?
ADDICT
iON Performance Inc 05-24-2004, 11:59 PM JDM addict - the cryo'ing process generally extends the life of rotors to ~3times the regular lifetime vs. a non cryo'd rotor.

iON Performance Inc 05-31-2004, 05:43 AM InfamousDX - The cost of the 2-piece rotors for the stock WRX 2 pot calipers are $499US shipped to your door for payment via MO.
JDM addict - we didn't offer it before since we'd have to send it down to the US and then back up before they get sent out (too costly).
serious - the Brembo's have a specific spot on the caliper which prevents the line from twisting. Those who use the normal WRX lines don't have this piece which goes into the specific spot on the caliper, thus the line can be subject to twisting.
serious 05-31-2004, 09:38 PM What kind of s/s lines are they for the sti anyway?! With the sti brembo brake rotors that are two piece, are these just for the front or is there a rear application too?
B
iON Performance Inc 06-01-2004, 06:06 AM serious - Goodridge manufactures the STi specific lines for us. The P/N is a exclusive to us.
As for the 2-piece rotors, for now it's only a front application. We need a couple more people who are willing to commit to get them made. (Due to the parking brake being in the hub of the rears, it makes it extremely expensive to make compared to the fronts; thus require exotic materials & coatings to provide duribility/longevity compared to a straight aluminium hat).
serious 06-01-2004, 02:08 PM What's the best deal you can swing on the sti brake lines and do you have them instock ready to ship? I can get the stoptech ones cheaper than what you have listed and don't have to pay any duties.

ami2fst4u 07-21-2004, 08:58 AM We're making way for our MY05 STi 2-piece rotors and the multi-piece rear STi/Brembo rotorsHow do the 05' differ in rotors compared to the 04'? Will the multi-piece rear STi/Brembo rotors be available for the 04'? Being as I have an 04' and am looking to upgrade in the near future.
Rick
iON Performance Inc 07-21-2004, 03:10 PM Wzcb08 - the pads are rotor friendly. Just make sure if you're installing them on your old rotors to have your rotors re-surfaced. They dust less then the stockers; and work very well in cold. Great auto-x pad, works well for solo 1 and solo 2.
ami2fst4u - the MY05 STi's are 5x114.3 PCD whereas the MY04 STi's are 5x100 PCD. The multi-piece rear rotors for the MY04 are nearing the end of the R&D phase; the rotors themselves are currently having the casting moulds made. If you're looking for the black hats, it would be a good idea to pick-up the ones on special right now; the rears are expected to be ready in between 6-8 weeks time.
ami2fst4u 07-21-2004, 03:29 PM Damn now don't I feel stupid, I totally forgot about the different PCD.

dpalo81 02-23-2006, 11:02 PM i have a set of Perrin 4 pot calipers and am in some desperate need of pads for street use only, the problem is that i dont know what will fit or what to get?? i need pads badly can anyone suggest anything??
GTBGUY 02-26-2006, 10:32 PM dpalo81: IIRC, the Perrin uses the Wilwood calipers (they had later went on to another caliper). Depending on the caliper, your best bet would be to ask the original manufacturer about the pad applications.
chuglobal 03-28-2006, 03:31 PM Do you still have the 2 piece rotors that fit a 04 STI? How much do each rotor weigh? Which colors hats and what drillings/slottings do you have left? How much are they and does the manufacturer have a website? Thanks.
GTBGUY 04-05-2006, 11:54 PM chuglobal: your best bet is to send the guys at iON an email. IIRC their email is info@ionperformance.com
They've still got the 2-piece rotors for the STi, my brother just bought a set a week ago.
