Well , after two winters and lots of snow storms I have finally managed to get my Impreza Outback stuck in the snow. I have continued to be amazed at these cars and AWD in general, however I made the mistake of venturing into an unplowed parking lot on a slight downhill grade ..about 10 inches of hardpack snow with ice underneath and that did it. Wouldnt budge and inch and just kept sinking. Had to be (humbled) pulled out by a (gasp) pickup truck. Oh well..now I know it has limits. Heck, last winter I was plowing through about 2 feet of fresh and it was billowing up over the hood..no problem at all. The base of ice really did it in. Also, ive seen lots of posts about a fatter rear bar...the other day I was at a stop..waiting to turn left onto a DRY road ..tires were wet from melted snow on the side road I was coming off of, anyway I gunned it and turned onto the dry road in 1st gear and spun completely around so fast I had absolutely no control...ended up on the opposite shoulder facing the opposite direction, full 180..if there was a car coming the other way it would not have been pretty...I can only think that the fronts spun breifly transfering full power to the rears and sending it around. Not good. The road was dry as a bone..dryed salt residue..maybe that helped spin it..but very disturbing at the time. Anyone else ever have a similar experience?

No damage ..stopped just before guard rail...running "no seasons" that came on it until they wear out then real snows on the steels and my WRX rims for the summer. I just cant express enough how surprised I was when it spun like that...really...2 seconds and I was on the other side of the road facing the wrong way. It was cold, perhaps the wet tires developed a film of ice on them while I was waiting to turn onto that main DRY road..then the tires hit the ice cold pavement and it was like grease....scary stuff.

I had that almost happen... it was not on snow.. But loose sand and rocks.. I was making a right turn in the forester and the front right tire broke loose.. Holy crap! The car was aiming so fast for the curb... I luckly go the car back under control.. But yea the car can have a mind of it's know if you let anyone of the tires on dry stuff and another on loose stuff making a turn.

Btw I got my Forester Semi stuck.. I highsided by pulling too far into a driveway were the plow pushed it up into.. and car got stuck a little.. just as a person came around the corner I got the car unstuck.
