I have a question about the interior changes between MY98 - MY00 in the RS. I know the interior was a bit different between MY98-99, but I don't really know what changed... it's been a while since I was in a 98 that wasn't an auto.

Does anyone know if the shifter console (the bottom part that the shift boot connects to) on a 5MT RS was any different between those years? I need to replace that piece on my 2000 RS and want it to match the rest of the interior as best as possible. Just looking to see if it would be the same before MY99. Or if possible, was it the same in the earlier Impreza L's too?

Well OLDER Ls like my 95 were different. THe shifter bezel wasnt square, it is rounded in the back and the same pice of trim not only goes around the shifter but all the up around the radio too.

So OLD L will not work. Don't know about the rest though.

AFAIK, '97 through '01 centre consoles were the same. The only diffrerence was when Subaru decided to put that crappy CF-esque trim on the console and the HVAC/radio surrounds.

I like my STi Ver. 3 GF8 w/o any type of trim. :)

Yeah the cf trim is corny but I'll leave it on cause I'm a nerd. I'm guessing if you ever wanted to replace the stock head unit you would need to pry off the cf trim correct?

I bet that is going to be a bitch since it's just one big piece.

I almost forgot I posted this

I will try to take a picture tonight if I remember and post it up. Basically the reason I'm looking to replace the shifter trim is this. The previous owner of the car painted the trim blue. He soon saw the error in this and covered it up with CF trim. I'm not sure if it's the stock MY01 CF trim... I was never able to really find out if it was just a stick on option or if it completely replaced the black plastic trim.

My radio was stolen over the summer time and the CF trim around that part of the dash was broken too. The body shop replaced the part with the stock RS trim. I like the look of that better anyway so I pulled the CF stuff off the air vent surround too. I want to pull it off the shifter trim so it all matches, but it is still painted blue. So I am just trying to figure out what years use similar parts. Thanks for the responses.
