View Full Version : Need Longer Bolts When Installing Lineage Grounding Kit?

Just tried installing my new Lineage Grounding Kit and am running into a slight issue. The two existing bolts on each side of the front of the engine that most everyone use as a grounding point seem to be too short. I'm trying to bolt down 2-3 of the runs from the grounding kit and the existing single ground wire that was there originally and the bolt will not catch the thread at all. If I use ONE of the Lineage ground wires the bolt locks down perfectly. Did anyone else run into this issue? If so... what is the measurement of the bolt that you got to replace the original one?

Thanks!

yea, with the 4ga terminals it too large to use the stock bolts sometimes. as for which bolts to use, just get ones that are about 1/4" longer. that should be enough.

I am having the same issue with my Lineage kit and it doesn't look like I will be able to get the two grounds to bolt to the negative battery terminal that comes from the factory. Anyone know were I can buy a better cable on the internet that also has the stock little wire coming off it? Thanks....it was easier doing the rear sway bar and strut tower bar...

Excellent, exactly what I wanted. Placed my order and sent you an email with a few questions. You need to get the word out - the stock stuff has to go. Just doesn't make sense to install the grounding kits and not touch the factory wiring. Wish I knew about your site before I ordered the Lineage kit last month.

i saw this page before too... good prices
what's the difference between the grounding kit at top and the 'upgrade' stock kit at bottom?

The top (lucid) kit adds 4 additional grounding points to the engine. the bottom gets rid of the stock OEM ground wire (there are three of them, one from the battery to the fender, battery to the engine block, and one from the trany to the firewall) I upgrade all these to larger wire and better terminal ends and include a new neg battery termial.

I just wanted to add that I received the Lucid kit today from Shane at Paranoid Fabrications. The kit was linked together with zip ties in the order that the individual links will form the chain, as well as one side having a label for the strut tower bolt. This little detail made the whole install quick and easy.

I just followed the directions (with pictures) and cut off each zip tie as I went to properly bolt them down. After finishing I used the new zip ties to secure the wire to different points around the engine bay. I did not run into any problems with too short bolts or incorrect length of wire. His kit is simple and easy enough for anyone with the basic tools to install. My only recommendation is that each user scrapes off the paint from under the strut tower bolt to ensure a good metal-to-metal contact.

Impressions so far are limited to one drive, but I tried to accelerate with both A/C on and off and didn't detect the slight hesitation I once had. It may be a very subjective review, but for anyone who is intrigued with this mod, Paranoid Fabrication offers a low-buck way to satisfy your curiosity.

I can't wait for the stock replacement kit to arrive!

Still shameless... :D Good stuff though that grounding wire kit for a price which should embarass other manufacturers... I'll upgrade the stock wiring eventually with one of his kits too.

[on another note, serious props to shane for making a schweet auxiliary lamp wiring harness. made swapping aux foglamps for aux driving lamps a cinch]
