Yeah, I heard the price of the Borla header was going to go up a whole bunch too. :( I installed mine this weekend, and BOY am I ever glad I did. FYI......Borla headers are coated saving future owners ~$100 in header wrap or ~$200 in coating expense over other manufacturer's headers. I felt immediate gains on the butt dyno, which is harder to do on a stage 2 car than a stock vehicle. Get some. Good luck with your sale! :)

How is the fitament to the MY01 RS?
I read threads that say they'll bolt right up and others calling for some modification to fit stock parts. Now I know aftermarket items usually fit pretty well, due to the publics love for these parts, I just want to be pretty confident about spending only $264 for a quick swap. I have stock cat.

I have heard of only 1 person saying they didn't fit 100%, I'm not sure which model year they had though off the top of my head. Other than that I've never heard with a fitment problem. And the cracking issues have also been resolved.

the WRX headers come ceramic coated from borla, no need for header wraps or additional coatings. all in all thenew revision of the headers have gotten very good reviews

They will fit as the headers do not connect directly to you cat-back.

i finally installed mine today...fitment between the headers and cat was alittle off, i was able to force it to fit though. need two people to do that. no leaks afaik...

what about 2.5RS catbacks?

At the moment I don't think I have any of the 2.5 inch catbacks in stock. I can check on monday.

The 3 in is failry loud since it uses the XR-1 series muffler

its deffinatly not as bad as a carbon ti or nurspec, but not as stealthy as the twin tip.

They should bolt up with out a problem. I've sold a few to other 03 owners.

its not the actual unit obviously, but it uses the same tip / canister style. this is their sound DB legal exhaust. its actually a pretty nice unit.

its deffinatly louder then the 2.5 inch but I couldn't tell you specifics.. Most everything that borla makes (cat back wise) is Carb Legal and complies to DB legality.

are the RS2.5 hearders CARB legal?

I just called and spoke with borla... neither the headers for the WRX nor the RS are carb legal at this point.

is this deal still going on?

I'll still honor that deal I had PMed you.

I just put a vibrant exhaust on my car (STi). I'm going to post some pics and video later on today.

if you're looking for something more quiet then the Borla and SP2 are great for that, but it depends on which downpipe you're using as to which one I would reccomend for fitment. both are designed to work with the factory downpipe but the SP2 doesn't taper as much and the flange is a bit wider so you won't have as big of a leak issue with downpipes that use regular 2 bolt 3 inch flanges.

both exhaust are diffintaly on the quiet side of the spectrum, I think your biggest decesion between the two is going to be the style of exhaust you're looking for (twin tip vs single)

either way I'll hook you up on either exhaust if you're interested.

I'm really torn between those 2 exhausts but leaning more towards Borla's stealthyness. Whay is the ID size of eash tip?

I think the SP2's flange would be better suited to mate to Gods Downpipe. however, the design of the Borla Hush system would make for an easy change of flanges. as for the tips on the borla exhaust they are between 3 and 3.5 inches. they are large enough to be recognized as something other then stock but not too gawdy.

Will the hush have any fitment issues with the HKS downpipe? Also, is the muffler a "baffled" muffler?

i installed my borla headers today and they made my RS sounds AWSOME! thx again! :banana:

haven't heard of fitment issues with it, but still you might have a small leak becauxe of the design of the flanges.


The hush muffler is a straight through design as opposed to a baffled muffler... It looks like it flows quite nicely.

wat does "2nd day air" under shipment mean?? i ordered on saturday. hmm..i thought i would of got it by wednesday. damit...i wanted to get them on at the same time i go to the muffler shop tomorrow. sigh. my stromung is making poping sounds more than usual. must be excited as i am about the headers:D
