I am just wondering about the hoods on the GC 1995 and say 2000 Impreza's. I have a VIS hood and I am noticeing that some of the lines don't match up as well as I would like.
Was there a diff. in the OEM hoods from these yease. VIS lists there hood as a 95-01 hood? Just wondering.

Iirc, there was a slight change in hood & front grille between the my1996 & my1997. The hood in my1996 (&my1995) has less curves compared to the my1997 onwards. The headlights changed shape a bit also.

Hoods interchange if you use the related headlamps and grille. Nothing else needs be altered.

There's one minor issue with this though. Seeing that geronimo66's profile indicates a my2000 impreza, changing the headlamps to the older type would be a downgrade imho. I had a my1995 impreza, and I know that the headlights use the older type reflector, with diffraction / Fresnel type lens instead of a clear lens with multi-faceted reflector. Imho, those don't light up as well as the newer ones that are standard in my1998 onwards.
my 2 cents

one issue... the 97-98 headlights were also diffraction lights... they're the right shape though. 99-01 were the clear reflectors.

I stand corrected. So my99 up had the multi-faceted reflector (with clear lens).

You can use a 97 and up hood on any 93-95. It overhangs slightly (really slight) in the front, but it wil still work.

it'll fit yeah.. but it's not exactly flush in areas (mainly around where the headlights meet the grille).
satrya: 1993-96 headlights have glass lenses, I believe it makes them better at least in the long run.

Cool so then its just that the VIS hoods hilight lines don't seem to line up quite right.
Hmmm hope the V5/6 grille will line up and fix the mis-match.

A Question about the hood.. the Blocking plate under the hood scoop.. that can be removed right? With it blocked did you get any wind sounds?
Back when I was looking for a Subaru I test drove this MY99 outback wagon Man that car would look like a sleeper :)

Yes the backing plates can be removed on the bonnet vents and the scoop.
No they don't make any more noise if they're blocked or open.
