When people used to stare at you in your RS uncontrollably. When guys and girls would just mad dog your ride to take a longer look at it pass by. I've had people in all kinds of cars and bikes!!!...drive up to me in traffic just to give my RS love...

It still happens and just did to me recently from a dealer of all people but still...it's no where near as often. I was wondering if that same magic will happen again when I get my WRX. That was part of the entire glory that is owning a Impreza 2.5 RS.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I used to get it a lot more when i FIRST got my car back in 99, but it simmered for a while. Now with the P1's and Stromung, i get a LOT more looks and ogles.

I know what you mean.

Subies are extremely rare here in LA, especially Imprezas. People used to always come up to me at the car wash, gas station, etc. and ask what kind of car it was. And I only have an OBS!?!?

I can't wait for the looks I'm going to get in my WRX. (mostly of my tail lights of course...hee hee.)

I still get that all the time. With the Stromung, fog covers and spats my car still gets looks......I dont, but the car does.

I will tell you something funny I went to this new import shop here in daytona today (02-26-01)and the owner almost fell out of his chair and almost seemed like he wanted to pay me to work on my car. Offered me anything at 1% over cost and claimed that he could get me anything as well. (Major Subie Envy!)

Here is a quote from the owner(Honda Driver)

" Dude I love that car and color, you know that thing has the capability of downright embarassing just about any honda on the street if it's done right and the owner knows what he's doing."

Made me smile after he said that, and then I pointed and told him now go get me some P-1's and I might let you put them on.

Not only do I constantly feel like I'm being stared at while driving thru Mira Mesa Blvd (on the way to work, not the midnight drags), but people want to race because I don't think they ever have raced an Impreza. I finally saw my second Impreza today, other than mine, on the freeway. Our cars are very rare, boys and girls. Be proud, we have the power of Scooby!

Allow me to preface; My first car was a Honda Civic. As crystal clear as a good diamond.

Delivery of my Black RS Sedan was on Nov. 6 00, at 1:30. As soon as I had signed for the car I went for a long ride around town. I was about fifteen miles north of my house driving through some semi twisty roads around 3:15 when traffic slowed behind a school bus that was just starting to get moving again. There, on the side of the road, were walking three boys all around the age of 14. All three boys looked at me in my car and got HUGE smiles. One pointed at me and started screaming while another pumped his right arm in the air shouting, "YEAH!!!" and the third boy, the one closest to me, just stopped in his tracks and starred as I rolled by. Behind my shades I kept it cool and pretended not to notice, at that time I was too important of a person. I watched them in my mirror as they watched me drive away. A smile then took control of my face. I knew, that this was something that would never have happened in the Civic...

I carry this memory with me always, satisfied that I have improved three young lives. And for that one boy, the one closest to me, perhaps years from now, he too will still carry this cherished moment in time...

thank you [bows head]...

A dude (he's about 30-40) at a PA turnpike toll booth saw my RS, and he said he would buy it as soon as I'm done with it. He also asked me if I was going to buy the WRX, and I said "no".

I still get some stare from Honda, Mitsubishi, and VW guys and ladies. Not so many RS running around the town especially with aftermarket parts. I bet pedestrians are saying, "damn, what a noisy car!". http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Forgive Silky's lack of modesty but I'm not all that bad looking. I'm a tall sexy Sicilian in fact!

I like the contest me and my car have.

Looks from women:

2.5 RS vs Silky

157 158

Actually I can never tell what they're looking at...My sexy car or the sexy man in the sexy car. Do you have any idea what that's like!?!? hahaha

Our MY00 Legacy GT Limited (White w/ spoiler) gets stared at all the time! Especially by 3-series drivers... They think we are a threat or maybe a new BMW model or something http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

I rarely notice the stares. All my passengers always tell me how people stare and gawk at the car. I don't get it. I rarely see it, and yet everybody else who sits in my car loses count of how many people stare.

My 1999 Mustang GT got a lot more looks and compliments than my Impreza. And it was stock. Nobody seems to notice me now. I think I like it better that way. At first, it was cool. But after a while I got tired of it. I guess I just don't like being the center of attention. On the other hand, I didn't get tired of when the females looked my way. I don't have the big head that Silky has. I know they were only looking because of the car.

Here in MN, the RS are still rare. The guy at Burger King in the hood was impressed, as are the guys who work at the local car wash. Both commented on the styling and Blue Ridge Pearl paint.

I don't know if being noticed by the 'boyz in da hood' is a good thing or not....

I was driving home from PA one day and *while driving on the highway* this guy gave me the "roll ur window down" signal. Then he proceded to ask me if it was a turbo and told me "thats a nice ride." It was hard to hold a conversation while doing 65mph, so I said thanks and continued on my wayhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif This is one of many odd things that has happend since I got my rs! I also had some guy GET out of his car (at a red light) and ask me about my car!! I thought he was gonna carjack me but he was just really excited about the RS.!HAhaha I cant wait to get the wrx and see what happenshttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Around here most people aren't really sure what a Subaru is, even the over-advertised Outback!

I used to get stares when I had the only one around for 30 miles or so, now there are two or three in town so people are getting used to them. I still get a ton of looks when the car is covered in clay and mud.

I drove down to a small town in CT to see some cousins. My friend and I were behind a school bus and all of the kids had their faces smeared all over the rear window, looking and gawking. i gave em a rev or two (or three or four or five...). I was somethin special.....

Subby love comes in all forms, but my personal favorite has to be when someone in a car comparable to ours, perhaps even better gives your car the "side eye" Yes the side eye.

They won't dare turn their head...OH no, for they are too sauve and their own car is too cool to do that. But even still their eye is uncontrollably drawn to the sweetness of the RS. YES! Pay close attention to people making left turns across an intersection...hopefully you're wearing glasses cause if they see you waiting to catch their attention they won't do it. Yet if you are motionless and calm they will...they almost always do. Usually guys look down your scope to see what's in there and their passengers unintentionally press their faces to the glass....I love that!

I've only had a few people inquire about my RS and it felt really good. It's almost like having an exotic,in a way I guess it is.I had one guy follow me around the mall parking lot and wait till I parked and got out and he says ,dude how do you like your car? I did'nt know what he was up to.Another time the wife and I come out of petsmart and this guy is lurking around my RS,he never says a word but his mouth was open and I believe I seen droowl dripping from his lip.He just stood on the curb and stared as we got in a drove away,I just love it!!!!
It's fun telling people about the RS because they really don't expect us to know so much, even the service techs.at the local dealership. One tech says, fella you don't need me just pull it in and go at it,here are my tools.

I went and picked up my car on April 21st of 1999, and drove it home like I was the king of the world. People looked, and I liked that (except when they are cops). The best story though was one night this preppy man was driving his new Audi A6 in the silver, very nice car I must admit. He rolled forward and the I edged up too. The opposing light turned orange and you heard the engines get rev'd to about 3000RPM. We took off and I total destroyed him, flat out whooped his A**. At the next light he proceed in pulling in behind me..http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif. It turns out that we were heading to the same place, and when we parked he got out and sadily said "Nice Subaru, whats that thing got under the hood?" Just to pop his bubble even more I grinned and replied "only a 4." That night will live forever, and I bet he went and traded his Audi in the next day...haha. Females like the car very much too. I have lost track the number of rides I have given to females just because they want to ride in it. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/cool.gif <----This is how I feel when they ask. I will always love the Subaru, and if you ever see a nut driving to catch up to you honking and waving, dont be scared its odds are just me.
