I just got through installing my new stereo a couple days ago and i instead of paying for the harness i decided to clip and twist =D. Well there were a couple wires that arents used on my new stereo one being the illimunation wire, well being an elctriticans aprentice i did not leave any of these wires exposed i taped them up and went on my way. Well i went away for the weekedn and my mother said on saturday night some lights on and in the car were on and did not go off. Well come to find out the tail lights and the illiumination had come on and stayed on by them selves draining the battery. But when i jumped the car they did not come back on untill the next day and then they did not go off again. So i went into the center console to see if any wires were shorting and none however it appered that some of the illium wire was exposed. Well i pulled off the tape and in doing this hit the frame and shorted it they went out. Now they wont come back on and there is no power to the fuse any one got any tips? did i fry the illum unit or maybe the realay?

which fuse did you check? There is an illumination fuse in the inside fusebox, and one for the parking/taillights in the engine bay fusebox (this is from my 98 impreza, but its most likely similar)

it wasn't the switch on top of the steering wheel was it? not sure of the 95's had that :p)

I know about parking lights and i bitched my mom out for leaving them on. It turns out it was not her =\. But any way i tested all fuses inside and out of fusalodge. And the one under the hood gets power the one for illum gets none. =|
