View Full Version : GP MOTO Equal Length Headers, Turbobacks, PNP unichips, IC hoses, and more

Dynamispeed
03-14-2004, 07:31 PM
The header is fully stainless steel and all expansion joints are welded up for a perfect no leak fit. Included is a bung for your stock egt, (which can be plugged if you don't desire to run one) and a bung for your O2 sensor. The header takes the place of the stock exhaust manifold AND up pipe from engine to turbo. The header provides dramatic gains in the midrange and the top end. I have had one for 10 months and have nothing but positive things to say about the power and the destinctive sound. It installs with no cutting on 02-04 WRX's and STI's, and the stock plastic undertray can be used with minor modifaction. This header helped us achive 260 ft lb of torque at the wheels on the stock turbo with only a GP MOTO turboback and UNICHIP.

The price will be set at $579 shipped to anywhere in the US. Canadian customers may pay extra for shipping. These are brand new fully warranteed headers.

If you want the optional 2500F thermal coating inside and out It will be a extra $240 (shipping included) and approx 10 days extra before shipping.
$820 shipped w\coating

*If you get your header coated, I can have aftermarket EGT bungs installed to your specifications.*

Get the simplicity of plug and play engine managment for your STI or WRX. The GP moto Unichip features full control for boost, timing and fueling. You can toggle between 2 maps, and there is also a switch to clear ecu memory.

If you are local (so cal) I can custom tune your setup. If not I can flash in a map for your specific setup.
http://www.geocities.com/seanslogan/UniChip_and_HarnessSweb.jpg

WRX - $749
STI - $800

This setup works awesome on the STI. GP MOTO tuned a STI w\ an APS club spec kit. 350 WHP and smooth as glass.

The Dynamispeed WRX also has a GP MOTO unichip, and has been flawless for 6 months.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Need more info on unichip-seems priced about the same as utec-xede-quite a bt more than ecutek-What are the advantages of this over the others mentioned that would justify the price? I have a 2004 sti deadbolt p&p vf22-corner clipped turbine wheel w/ short ram intake, tbe, mbc, fcd,no cats, free fp mod, walbro fuel pump-can u flash unichip for this combo running 19 psi on 94 pump? Is fuel pressure mod and walbro pump enough for this turbo? Should work out to 535cc injectors w/ fp mod and fuel pump. thnx. Very interested, but I'm in Canada-so I would need a flashed unichip too far to come for dyno tune.

The unichip is cheaper than both the STI UTEC ($1100-$1200 US)and the xede. My price is $900 US for the Unichip w\ PNP harness. We can send you a unichip w\ the map you need for your particular setup. Reflashing it later for future mods will not be a problem either. The unichip falls somewhere in between a reflash and a user tunable setup. It allows you to toggle between 2 different states of tune to use higher octane gas for example. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Thnx XT6-I was just wondering if I would need it when tuned-not planning to run it w/out tuning-my question really is w/ tuning and p&p vf22 clipped wheel-free fpmod +10psi=approx. 535cc + walbro pump on 2004 sti-will I have enuf fuel for safe afr and idc's. Thnx-I value your and Ashleys opinions. Have u decided on engine options yet? Would be great to see potential of the gt32 on built motor.

Is the GP Moto header "true" equal length like the Maxim Works header? Just wanted to know if it would eliminate the boxer rumble and get an idea of how it will sound like. I can't seem to play the MOV file for the sound clip.

Yes the GP MOTO header is a true equal length header. It will eliminate some of the rumble down low. The car will sound much smoother, and rev a little quicker. There is a review of the header in the car parts review forum.

I don't think you will need a big maf when running the VF 22. I think that would be overkill, and make things more colplicated than they need to be. I would put a fuel pump on it, and I think you will be fine with the stock injectors.

It really is going to depend on how much boost you want to run, your target AFR, and IDCs. It is just a matter of how much of a saftey buffer you want.

Is this the same TBE you mentioned in the "Factory 2.5L Turbo" section as being a "revised version"? If not, how much is that TBE? Is it 3" all the way? It seems to narrow down in a couple spots.
Thanks.

Dynamispeed
03-22-2004, 01:34 AM
Yes it is one and the same.

$700 shipped for this new revised version.

The exhaust is 3 inch all the way through. Even through the muffler. If you look at other exhausts, most of them taper down inside the muffler.

The larger diameter sections you see are resonators. The resonators have a 3 inch inner diameter as well. This is one of, if not the most direct, free flowing exhaust system you can buy.

Dynamispeed
03-22-2004, 04:23 PM
Thats great. In all honesty, I think this is a better choice. I can't see needing a 3.5 inch system on a roadgoing Subaru. The APS is nightmare loud. I was in the back seat of an STI with that system. I had a throbbing headache the rest of the afternoon.

Check out this thread for pics.

I can get a bung welded on for $30 per bung. It would be best to send me your bung (defi) so I can find a weld on one to match it. if it is the same as a greddy\omori then I should be able to find the correct one. Yes it can be plugged until you are ready to use it.

Also, how much is the TBE with catalytic converter(s) (both front cat and rear cat, front cat only, or rear cat only)? Don't want to be ticketed for not running any cats, already been pulled over by the wonderful CHP for "spirited" driving... Thanks for the info, and props on great prices!

The front 02 sensor is under the turbo inlet flange where the final 2 runners meet into one. It much easier to get at there too.

The chrome thermal coating is slightly more than the regular coating. Probably around $20 dollars. We can put a cat in the downpipe for an addtional $125. It will be in the same spot the 2nd cat is stock.

There is a EGT bung for the stock WRX EGT sensor. I do not reccomend putting it in, since I have heard many horror stories of them breaking off in all different kinds of catless up-pipes. Basicly a 2.2ohm is much much cheaper than a new turbo.

I think you have me sold me on the turboback.

I do have a couple of questions I hope you could address:

1) What are the details of the warrenty on the turboback?

2) I assuming this is the revised version for $700 shipped with the mechanical 02 fix, reinforced mounts and the "turbo look" silencer, right?

2) The silencer is a bit much for my tastes so I'm curious if there is another more traditional maybe adjustable silencer available? I think the previous version had a silencer like this, any laying around?

3) I know this is subjective but how loud is this setup? Can you compare it any of the common systems out there? The sound clips really don't give a good idea of the db levels.

4) Has the mechanical O2 fix been 100% effective?

5) Are any gaskets included or required to a good installation? Is anything else suggested for a good install? Any rubbing issues or bumper melting?

Finally, where do I send the paypal? :D
