From the pictures of the GT spec front STB it appears that one does not need to modify the air conditioning lines, is this true?

if the a/c doesn't have to be modified than i'm guessing the bar doesn't sit as close to the firewall? how does this fit with larger top mount i/c?

kunfuzion - you right, the bar doesn't sit as close to the firewall and it will not fit w/ larger top mount i/c. Usually, people will go for front mount if they want larger i/c.

NO, the one in the picture are the GT-Spec front strut bar.

The Sti replica bar are $60 and yes, they will fit on the 04 STi.
