was it always like this? i havent really noticed until recently...when my battery went completely dead in about 5 mins with the key in just before crank. i watch my voltage meter on my turbo timer and it drops pretty quickly...so i can't keep my headlights on for more than 5 mins unless the motor is turning.

ps. i do have jdm headlights with aftermarket hid's...

any help?

No, the fans shouldn't run in the run position, unless the engine is already hot enough for them to come on.
The only circumstance I know of where this would happen is if the green diagnostic connectors under the dash (the ones that are normally unplugged) are connected together, this activates a diagnostic mode where, among other things, the fans will be running. You'd also get a constant flashing CEL if this were the case, and you didn't say anything about that.

nope no cel's.

i checked today...and actually my radiator fan isn't on, in run position. i think the car was hot or something...but i realized that my hid's suck my voltage down bad, because as soon as i turn them on, it drops my voltage .1v's every second and i think i need atleast 9 volts to crank right?

Things to Check..

If you have the A/C Button Pressed in the Fans will Run in the On Position.

Every time you turn your HIDs on they draw a high amount of current for the first few seconds, then they settle down to normal operating mode and actually draw much less than halogens. If you're sitting there turning them on and off it may very well drain the battery. Each ballast can draw 10-15 amps at startup.
