For those of you with 2002-2003 WRX's, you probably know what the UTEC is - its the engine management solution that revolutionized WRX tuning. For those of you with 2004 models, you might now be aware of the power this single piece has. So fir the uninitiated, here goes:
The UTEC (User Tunable Engine Computer) is a new concept in WRX engine management delivering the power and control of a stand-alone engine management system with the convenience and tuning ease of a piggyback system. UTEC enables complete programmable control over ignition timing, fuel, and boost, while allowing the factory ECU to maintain control over tedious and mundane functions that make the car drivable on a daily basis. Functions like cold start, hot start, intake temperature compensation, AC compensation and closed loop fuel control signals are all managed by the factory ECU reducing your tuning time significantly while enhancing daily drivability.
UTEC standard features include:
Plug-&-Play installation with OEM connectors for 2002-2004 WRX
No cutting, splicing or additional sensors required
20 minute, do-it-yourself installation
End-user programmable via PC or PDA with HyperTerminal and serial cable
Fine tune the maps for your exact setup
Pre-programmed base maps get you started quickly and safely
Base maps for our Staged upgrade packages, dyno proven and road tested from the leader in WRX tuning
Don’t waste hours tuning just to get your car to idle and cruise decently
Maps can be e-mailed or simply downloaded then uploaded
Four (4) maps plus “stock mode” selectable with a flick of the switch
