PDE Flex Up-Pipe $275 + free shipping
Constructed from 2.00" T-304 stainless steel tube with CNC machined flanges. Quicker turbo spool times at lower RPM, and an increase of eight to ten horsepower over the stock Subaru up-pipe. This up-pipe also provides a dyno proven four horsepower gain and a quicker turbo spool up over the Subaru STi cat-less flexible up-pipe, due to the larger inside diameter of the tube and unrestricted flow liner through the flexible area. ½ inch thick CNC machined flanges, guaranteed flat to within 0.002" of an inch to ensure a perfect sealing surface on the gasket fire ring. New studs are pre-installed in the turbo flange, enabling a quicker trouble free installation. This is the only WRX up-pipe offered with the ability to reinstall the lower stock Subaru heat shield, helping to prevent premature failure of the passenger side CV boot. Precision Tig welded on each side of the tube on both flanges. Relocated EGT sensor fitting for an easier installation. Installation instructions and warranty included.

PDE Cat-less Downpipe $399 + free shipping!
The PDE Downpipe is constructed from 3.00" T-304 stainless steel tube with CNC machined flanges. Quicker turbo spool times at lower RPM and a big improvement in the midrange and high RPM horsepower and torque curve. Wide bellmouth design completely uncovers the wastegate valve, allowing an unrestricted flow. 3/8 inch thick CNC machined T-304 stainless steel flanges. Will fit with any aftermarket cat-back exhaust system that is made to install on the stock downpipe. Does not trigger the PO420 check engine light code, and allows the OBD II system to continue operation. No electrical "fix", no wiring, no check engine light. Precision Tig welded to ensure longevity. Installation instructions and warranty included.

Why are the "Secondary Pipes" only $10 difference between the one w/ the metal substrate cat & the non cat pipe? Shouldn't the "Cat- Eliminator pipe" supposed to be around the same price as the Down Pipe? These look all like regular retail prices. Are you sure these are "deals"?

Here are some MSRP list prices compared to ours:
Stromung 3" Secondary Metal Substrate Cat Piece $327 our price / $339 MSRP

Stromung 3" Secondary Cat-less Piece $317 our price / $329 MSRP

Unfortunately, I don't set the MSRP. If you think the cat-less piece should be much more less than the catted piece, you can give Scott a call at Stromung. His phone number is (714) 891-3630. He's a pretty reasonable guy, and great to talk to. You can tell him I sent you. :)

As for our "deal" prices, I don't think it's mandatory for a vendor to do free shipping on everything. In my opinion, free shipping is a great deal. Shipping a full downpipe could cost anywhere from $10-$30 to the east coast from southern California.

Manufacturers set a list price to keep the market afloat. We try our best to abide by their rules. :) Unfortunately, when vendors break that agreement, competing businesses must lower their prices in order to compete. Eventually, it gets to the point where nobody's making any money.

I hope you understand what I'm saying. Feel free to give me a call any time if you think I'm being unfair. :)

I'm sorry Kym, I probably shouldn't have written that stuff. I'm a little confused because the prices were talked about before, when they first came out. The Metalic Substrate Cat can't be THAT cheap! HERE is an example (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=467850)
A few replies down from the the top there is a price for the 3 in. cat-elimenator pipe ($189). I can't really argue w/ the free shipping part, but I thought when someone has a "sale"or "deal", they would sell it for under normal "list" price.
Again, I'm not trying to flame or anything. Thanks for still having an understanding explaination & good atittude. Hope you get lots of sales!;)

*EDIT* Never mind, please forget I even said anything. I don't like rubbing people the wrong way or burning bridges :) Not trying to start anything.

Don't worry about it. Just trying to explain what's going on from a vendor's point of view. :)

One thing to note is Scott raised the list prices on the secondary pieces by $10 about a month ago (catted piece from $329 to $339 and the cat-less piece from $319 to $329).. so the link that you posted had Stromung's old list prices.

:)
