View Full Version : Where can Valentine 1 be had cheap? JF1GD2 03-16-2004, 11:14 PM .. Mulder 03-16-2004, 11:24 PM New? Nowhere. They are sold only through Valentine directly, there are no dealers or distributors. The only way to get one for less than Valentine's retail is to find a used one. InfamousDX 03-17-2004, 12:01 AM Yea there's never any place to get them cheap... eBay is your best bet. CBoldman 03-17-2004, 12:23 AM I would just buy a new one. They tend to go pretty expensive on ebay, and even if you get one fairly cheap ($350 shipped) 9 times out of 10 its an unit that needs to be updated. Zypper 03-17-2004, 01:00 AM What they said, if you can't afford a V1, then get an Escort 8500. Also note, Radar detectors are often stolen from vehicles, be careful you don't buy a "hot" one. Uncle Scotty 03-17-2004, 01:00 AM Originally posted by JF1GD2 ..  DooD....you make me laff!!!!  Buy a new one and be  JF1GD2 03-17-2004, 01:25 AM I know you can get em at best buy but i dont want to spend out the ying yang What do you mean by the ebay ones needing to be updated? How's that work? IS this thing as great as people said? Dead on every time? Uncle Scotty 03-17-2004, 01:32 AM JF1GD2, this isn't going to turn into one of your 50 post threads while you try to get everybody making your decesions for you, now is it??? Lets not talk this one to death. Make a decesion. file_id 03-17-2004, 02:05 AM Get the new passport x50 JF1GD2 03-17-2004, 02:25 AM how much, where? Uncle Scotty 03-17-2004, 02:49 AM JF1GD2...you're a big internet user, now...google is your friend. Putting in "passport x50" yeilds ALL SORTS of nice things for you to read. Be good, and google around a bit and see what you can find and get back to us, then. drewster 03-17-2004, 03:40 AM call up valentine one and ask to order a "refurbed" unit and it will be $359. I don't think they really ar refurbed but units that people have bought and returned. So almost brand new, you get the full warranty and you don't have to worry about where the one from ebay came from. Bankie 03-17-2004, 10:33 PM I saw the Passport 8500 at BestBuy for like $276. file_id 03-18-2004, 05:04 AM Hrmm, I might have to pick up a passport if they are 276. Guess they are making way for the x50. x50 is 330. JF1GD2 03-21-2004, 01:22 PM bleh, guess i have to pay msrp, okay please link me to a site where i can buy one from best buy didnt carry them like i thought. the best they had was an escort 8500 Mulder 03-21-2004, 01:26 PM Right from the source- www.valentine1.com JF1GD2 03-21-2004, 01:29 PM thanks---how bout some stores i could possibly buy it in person at? Mulder 03-21-2004, 02:08 PM Sorry, as already mentioned the Valentine is not sold in stores but only direct from the mfr. There is no retail or distributor network for it. If you want a brand new one the only place to get it is from them. Hey_its_Cole 03-24-2004, 12:30 AM Get a pasport 8500, i used a coupon at best buy for 10% off and payed $270. There is a guy on ebay with good feedback who sells them for i think $230. Not to start the which radar is better debate but in the most recent test i have seen from motor trend bell 960 i think and the passport both outperformed the valintine 1. Also radartest.com rated both higher. If you spend over $250 you are getting a great detector most likely. ronaldwrx 03-24-2004, 09:05 AM spend the extra money and get a valentine .. you are worth it, right? srf 04-02-2004, 06:22 PM file_id- the X50 is still $299, unless you want the blue LEDs. Hey_its_Cole- Yeah I got my 8500 on EBay for $235, but they had $15 shipping. =) But still, $250 for a NIB 8500 is still a very good deal. The V1 is more valuable if you like paying for false alerts. =) The V1 would be great if the logic were as good as the 8500, and if it wasn't $150 more ($180 if you count that Valentine charges $29 for a case that's free with the 8500). brizey 04-04-2004, 01:34 PM If you go with V1, get it directly from Valentine so you can get updates and the full warranty. V1 needs to update some of its logic, but arrows >> every other feature. srf 04-04-2004, 03:52 PM Well if anyone wants those cutsey little arrows, my V1 is going on EBay. =) JF1GD2 04-04-2004, 06:32 PM why?
