Yea there's never any place to get them cheap... eBay is your best bet.

I would just buy a new one. They tend to go pretty expensive on ebay, and even if you get one fairly cheap ($350 shipped) 9 times out of 10 its an unit that needs to be updated.

What they said, if you can't afford a V1, then get an Escort 8500.

Also note, Radar detectors are often stolen from vehicles, be careful you don't buy a "hot" one.

call up valentine one and ask to order a "refurbed" unit and it will be $359. I don't think they really ar refurbed but units that people have bought and returned. So almost brand new, you get the full warranty and you don't have to worry about where the one from ebay came from.

I saw the Passport 8500 at BestBuy for like $276.

Hrmm, I might have to pick up a passport if they are 276. Guess they are making way for the x50. x50 is 330.

Sorry, as already mentioned the Valentine is not sold in stores but only direct from the mfr. There is no retail or distributor network for it. If you want a brand new one the only place to get it is from them.

Get a pasport 8500, i used a coupon at best buy for 10% off and payed $270. There is a guy on ebay with good feedback who sells them for i think $230. Not to start the which radar is better debate but in the most recent test i have seen from motor trend bell 960 i think and the passport both outperformed the valintine 1. Also radartest.com rated both higher. If you spend over $250 you are getting a great detector most likely.

spend the extra money and get a valentine .. you are worth it, right?

Hey_its_Cole- Yeah I got my 8500 on EBay for $235, but they had $15 shipping. =) But still, $250 for a NIB 8500 is still a very good deal.

The V1 is more valuable if you like paying for false alerts. =) The V1 would be great if the logic were as good as the 8500, and if it wasn't $150 more ($180 if you count that Valentine charges $29 for a case that's free with the 8500).

If you go with V1, get it directly from Valentine so you can get updates and the full warranty.

V1 needs to update some of its logic, but arrows >> every other feature.

Well if anyone wants those cutsey little arrows, my V1 is going on EBay. =)
