It seems that manufacturers would like to market their product as HID when its actually not. Those cheap HID bulb that you see like $10 aren't the real HID. With real HID, you are paying about $150 (I guess). So beware. Actually, HID and Xenon are the same. There's two type, Projector and Non Projector version. Most expensive european cars use Projector while the Subaru uses the non projector HID. - Charles ATX25RS 03-18-2004, 04:39 PM a real HID system should runn upwards of $300. beware of the "conversion" kits that are nothing but a high powered harness with bulb covers. now yes most systems are filled with Xenon gas. although like mentioned above a lot of companies are "cashing in" by calling their products Xenon bulbs....but it is possible that some company is called Xenon. Slowpoke 03-18-2004, 06:49 PM Typically, Xenon refers to High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights. However, since Xenon is a bit of a buzzword, some manufacturers are advertising that their halogen bulbs are "Xenon filled". These bulbs are filled with Xenon gas, as opposed to Argon or Krypton, but are otherwise no different from regular Halogen bulbs and are therefore no better. |
