hey all like the subject reads. Im trying to research on whats the best alarm system out there right now? could someone point me in the right direction on what to get or where to start my search. ive searched the forum, but cant be too sure if the info is already outdated. any help would be a great help. thanks

I am still new to security but from all I have read in the last year
I would say it is more in "how it is installed" rather than what it is.
The "what it is" usually involves the range of the transmitters etc. The "how it is installed" speaks more to it's effectiveness in deterring theft.

I would recommend going to a regional forum and asking who is a very good installer in my area.

basically any alarm will do if:

1) it is hidden and extremely hard to get to.
2) the wires are hidden and hard to distinquish from stock wires.
3) the starter kill is used for a fuel kill which is also well hidden.

almost any brand alarm will fit this mold, but DEI products are generally thought of as being more reliable.

LCD 2 ways are nice but they are just as easy tear out if it is installed just as a regular alarm.
Get extra sirens, Hood lock-scoobymods.com has a thread, piezo sirens in the inside, back up battery or back up battery siren. all avalable on ebay or from a DEI dealer. That is the best. @ ways go off if your "in range" and that means not in a thick concreat building and if it does go off what are you going to do? You carry a gun or are some type of bada$$. Can you take on 2 or more guys in hand to hand combat? Or willing to risk jail time for murder? Think about it.
Oh air horns are a must! hook them up so they only come on when doors, hood or trunk is opened.
