How many different companies make cams for the sohc 2.5l engine? I know cobb and twe, anyone else? what cams would be good for a ej22t block and turbo later on down the road? i dont want something thats not streetable. thanks.

Any cams you may buy for use with your SOHC and a turbo will not be a very good match for your car in NA form if you are serious about performance. NA and turbo cams have very different designs to them.
Something like the Cobb mild cams can be used with a turbo, but there is not much to be gained there once you go turbo. If you are unsure of your final plans, then stick to something like that and you will be happy with the extra horses you get while NA. The TWE ones would serve similar purpose. If you do a search you will see that both brands have fans and detractors.
Pretty much any other cams you find advertised will be either someone else selling Cobb or TWE cams, or the actual companies that make them. Names like Web, Ion, and xcelleration come to mind.

damonmlime - if you're using the EJ22T block w/ the SOHC heads, you'll lower your compression; leading to less N/A hp compared to your stock EJ25 block.

Increasing lift will allow for more fuel/air to enter the combustion chamber when the intake valves are open, hence the gains in N/A form will be had when turbo'd as well.

thanks for the info, i don't think i'll spend the money on cams just yet, i was just looking for a relatively cheap power boost. i have intake, high flow cat, borla headers, cheap underdrive pulley and catback. is there anything else that could give me a boost while n/a? thanks again. Damon

You could always sell the headers and step to the equal length ones.

As for cams, Paeco also makes them.

Of the main companies that offer subaru parts: Cobb, TWE, Xcceleration, Paeco...I would be tempted to go Cobb if possible but that is just a personal preference.

I know TWE puts a good product on the street, as for the others I have no experience or testamonials on record.
