Its a wonder what a little bit of grease smeared on the tracks of the sunroof will do. I took the initiative today to apply a light coat of grease on them and oiled the two little lifters at the rear of the opening and "Wow" it seems to be a whole lot smoother in operation and a "bit" (i use this word lightly) quieter.
Just thought I would post my experience, give everyone something to screw with. :p

What kind of grease/oil did you use?

I know if you dont take a peek at the internals of the roof, it get's quite dirty in there. I'm guessing wd40 would work or even bicycle chain grease.

WD-40 will make your car stink, and can hurt the rubber seals over time.

Halforc,
I used a little bit of anti seize compound  I don't know if it was the brightest idea but the sunroof seems to be taking well to it. Then I used just a drip or two of 3-in-1 oil on the rear hinges.

update: read in a book that "white grease" would probably be the optimal lubricant for the sunroof, door hinges, etc.

Ok, now, where can I FIND this 'white grease'. I'm greatly anticipating this project.

Any kind of auto parts store or home DIY store (Home Depot, ect.)should carry it. Heck, I'll bet Fred Meyers and Walmart would even have it.

What he said ^ ;)
Mike I want to caution you to temper your enthusiasm a bit. I mostly noticed the improvement in the "closing" cycle. Opening the roof is still all noise compliments of the sunroof motor. Too bad there is little one can do to help quiet that thing down.

White Lithium grease works wonders for this sort of thing. Also use it on my garage door opener's screw.

Ok, so I FINALLY got around to doing this. It, umm, is quieter I spose. It certainly doesn't hurt anything. Glad I did it!:D
Thanks Joe.

No problem Mike ;) Like I said it made a difference with mine but, its all relative. I still think the sunroof motor is WAY to loud but then again I shouldn't complain at least it opens. lol

I'll give it a shot. Mine rattles and shakes on open and close and has started getting stubborn when I try to close it. Maybe some well placed teflon grease and lube will help it out. My dumb ass hadn't even though to try that.
