My wife and I put on the 3M Scotchcal onto the WRX on Saturday. All I can say is that this is the slickest front end protector ever. From 3 feet away it's not even visible, and unless you look for it, you're never going to notice it. So the car has it's original looks, no worries about special maintence, and protection.

We used the bulk material from Xpel, which is a bit expensive at $8 a foot, but it only took 4.5 feet to do the hood and grill to headlight pieces. It's too bad that I don't get to do another car, now that I've done it, it's pretty easy once you understand the concept of stretching it. I've still got 2 feet left, and I'm trying to decide whether to put it on the bumper edge or the mirrors. I also put some of the thicker Lightguard stuff on the fogs.

Anyway, after doing the hood and such, I see no reason why one would want the "kit" for those pieces. Now the bumper may be another story..

Too bad we're on opposite coasts... I'd give you a little $$ incentive to share your new-found experience on my WRX (-;

Anyway, given my experience with previous cars, I'd say put some protectant on the mirrors. My 10 year old MR2 has some big dings in the mirrors from rocks and whatnot. Might want to think about something near the back of the wheel-wells, unless you get mudgards, that is.

Congrats on doing it yourself and saving lots of money. Don't know that I'd be able to do the same.
