i used the search but i coudln't really find anything pertaining to this subject specificially so here it goes. im looking at some wheels and they have an application for the wrx, 5x100 +42 offset. would 225/40/18 tires (18x7.5 or 18x7) with a +42 offset fit on a wrx sedan lowered on progress springs (1.8 front, 1.5 back) without rubbing? anyone running a setup similar to this? thanks guys, any help appreciated.

Not sure about the fit, but a 42 offset will blow your wheel bearings.

That's getting real close....You would, most likely, have to play with the camber a bit to get it to work well.

I had a 2000 RS and the stock offset for it was +42 5x100 the wrx as far as I know has the same offset and you will want to stay with the same offset for warranty repairs w/subaru. I would call someone to find out the exact offset of your car and go from there.

The stock offset for the '00 RS is NOT repeat NOT +42!!!!!

The stock WRX 16x5 offset is +55(some may say +53;) ) and I believe the '00 RS is the same.

I had +40s on my rs with no rub and they are now on a 96 obs with minimal rear rub. No wheel bearing damage on either car in 3yrs of combined driving.

How about +48s? I see 17x7 48+ for sale very often, but it seems to be outside of the offset range indicated by the Sticky thread.

Hmm!! I repeat I put 18" 5x100 +42 because thats what subaru and Les Schwabs told me is stock. I repeat I put 18" 5x100 +42 because thats what subaru and Les schwab told me is stock. I can repeat it one more time if you like. 4 years no wheel bearing problems.

What is the stock offset for a 04 wrx sedan?? I want some new wheels, so what offsets could I use without problems.

Jon ....it's arguable as to how much strain a lower offset wheel "may" add to components, but you're wrong to think that the bearings will simply "blow" out just because you use them. Although I recommend sticking as close to the stock offset as possible, my +40 17x8's haven't caused any problems so far.

I will repeat: Is 17x7 +48 okay for an 04 WRX? The sticky thread said it should be a higher offset than this, but I definitely want the wheels farther out than the stockers anyway. Will this pose a serious danger to my wheel bearings, and will it look alright?

do you guys even understand or atleast consider the handling implications of lower offset wheels ..... or scrub radius, ackerman angle, Included angle, SAI .... or any of the suspension geometry you would be adversley affecting ??????

That's why I said I don't recommend it. Personally, I just wanted to respond to the comment that implied the wheel bearings will "blow out" simply by using a +42 offset.
