View Full Version : n2o on WRX?
guesstimator 03-30-2004, 09:10 AM What are some of your opinions/experiences on n2o on a WRX? i am purchasing one very soon and have a NOS wet kit i wanted to install on it. just wanting to know what you think about this as i may sell it if it isnt a good idea on a WRX.
zombiedog 03-30-2004, 10:59 AM can be, lots of info here
Unabomber 03-30-2004, 11:23 AM What other mods do you have? What kind of car do you have? Why did you buy it if you didn't have any idea if it was "good" or not? Modifications should never be taken lightly, I suggest you research prior to spending money. This goes for even the simple stuff like aftermarket light bulbs, let alone something as advanced as nitrous.
zombiedog 03-30-2004, 11:33 AM Jesus! Isn't asking a question the beginning of research? Every thread starts like this lately. Simple questions turn into slam fest.
I'm beginning to think it's impossible for people to be helpful without adding some jirkoff comments thinking they are superior in some way.
Apparently you're not allowed to be new on NASIOC.
Anyway guesstimator, like I said somwhat briefly in my 1st post, there is enuff info in these forums to tell you everything you need to know, the subject has been discussed many times. Do some searching to find what you need. Which is what you were trying to do in the first place.
And from what I read, the only thing he is spending money on is a WRX, good move in my eyes.
guesstimator 03-30-2004, 01:14 PM zombiedog...you are correct. i do not own a WRX as of now. The NOS kit is on my Prelude, which is for sale.
Unabomber...most of your posts I have read here have been quite informative, this one, however, I find somewhat offensive. I apologize if I was out of line for asking a question. Maybe you should re-read my post. All I wanted was some opinions from people who have used n2o on their WRX. Simple enough I thought. I don’t want installation instructions nor am I asking how to use it. I am quite knowledgeable actually in the use of n2o on NA motors, just not much experience with turbo + n2o setups. Especially the WRX.
If I had known that I would have been slammed for asking such a simple question, I wouldn't have asked it. Maybe you should just ban all questions in the future since there is so much information out there already.
You know...I may be a n00b here, but I’m not a moron.
Again, I apologize to all the rest of you for wasting bandwidth on my simple question or if i am out of line.

haha:lol:
if Sean Glazer posted here people would call him a n00b too, internet societies are dumb.
just because the motor sits a diferent way doesnt mean its different than any other 4 stroke
Unabomber 03-30-2004, 04:06 PM You guys are so testy today! My post was not even remotely meant to be a slam, berating, or belittling. :( I just wanted more info! I didn't know you had NO2 from another car either. From your post, it seemed like to me that you:
1. Bought a WRX.
2. Bought NAWWWWZ.
3. Came here asking for advice.
Sadly, this has occured here in the past, so I was inquiring to see how I might assist better. :) I apologize if the feeling of my words came across the wrong way. Since I do have more info now, this is my ignorant advice:
1. If it's a small kit (50 shot) and you use it with the normal nitrous precautions, you should be fine.
2. If it's larger than that, you are taking too big of a risk from what I have read here.
My knowledge is not first hand, only from what I remember reading on here in the past. NO2 is generally run as a quick boost or by the big boys who spend time on the drag strip. The bigger you go though, the higher the risks from what I have read. Unless someone else posts here, you will have to do a lot of searching as nitrous really isn't that popular or talked about here lately. I think part of it stems from the "bad press" it receives here kind of like Altezza tail lights.
As a side note, I have been accused of flaming before due to poor word choice. :( I think what I really need to do is totally flame someone for no reason, that way I can refer people to that post as an example of when I am being an idiot!
guesstimator 03-30-2004, 04:36 PM Bah...not a problem. I understand it is hard to tell ones intentions from text on a monitor. Your first two questions were ok (I kind of expected that); it was the rest of your post that stirred me up.
And I did perform a search with not much information available on nitrous and WRX. Maybe I could have read all of the 2k + post I came up with searching just for "nitrous", but ill pass.
At most, I planned to use a 50 shot, more than likely a 35 just to give that extra "umph". This, of course, would be after the basic bolt-on mods. My only fear after this, from what I have read, is the tranny. Seems the Subaru gearboxes aren’t made so well. Luckily I have a friend in the cryogenic business. I think ill have to give him a call soon after my purchase.
For a little more insight on what my plans are, I want to hit 300whp.
*edit* Almost forgot...I appreciate you input. That's exactly what I was looking for. ;)
Unabomber 03-30-2004, 05:50 PM Sure thing and thanks for being friendly about it. Sometimes tempers can get out of control here. Luckily, the few missunderstandings I have had here all ended like this one.
I have read posts about people using 50 shots successfully, so from what I know, you should be OK. Since searching is my forte, here is a little help since you "can't" search for two letter words like 50 here:
http://www.google.com/search?q=50+shot+site%3Aforums.nasioc.com&btnG=Search&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&as_qdr=all
http://www.google.com/search?q=35+shot+site%3Aforums.nasioc.com&btnG=Search&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&as_qdr=all
Hope this helps and best of luck.
skiblur 03-30-2004, 07:07 PM My advice (since I know nothing about N20) would be to PM STEALTH-WRX and ask him. I have read that Nick used Nitrous in his car successfully to achieve a damn fine quarter mile time on the stock turbo (to the tune of 12.06, I believe) so he would be the person to ask. From the information I have gathered, a 35 or so shot should be perfectly fine for a little extra punch. Hope your search goes well. Post back if you find out any good info
