Fits 02/03 WRX only - with Stock TMIC. Will not fit the STI or any other aftermarket TMIC. 16Ga thick stainless steel construction. Laser cut and precision bends for perfect fitment - solid construction enables a rattle free install. Installation without a stock heat shield - less than 5 minutes for first timers.

Shield reduces engine bay heat - protects TMIC from heat soak - the enemy for performance applications like ours. Double action design - acts as a vent in stop n go traffic!

This design was standard on older JDM STIs and legacy's. Why they deleted is anybody's guess.

No, it will not. The 04 is different from the 02/03 model.

Jeremy, does the chimney heat shield fit over the stock heat shield? Would it need be modified to fit? How much extra to ship to 96822? I have your zero loss and ultimate ground kits- good stuff! thanks, odzilla.

This is really designed for a car without the stock heat shield.
Some people have done it, others have failed and just removed their stock shields. I suggest removing it - as it needs to be removed anyway if you plan to do the DP mod. Plus, I think it looks ugly in the first place.

ps. If you decide to install it over your stock shield - you are on your own in modifying it. I don't have a car with a stock heat shield any more - so I can't tell you how to put it on. Maybe you could post pics if you are willing to try it.

I am very torn between the normal version of your heatshield and this one... This one sounds good because of the air hitting the dp but the other one seems nice because when your sitting still the flat one that does not have the chimney absorbs the heat....hmmm

I'm torn between the two.....

Received my heatshield today!

VERY nice quality... VERY nicely made!

Definalty props to Jeremy for making this..


Comes in two pieces and five screws with a washer. Place top chimney on heatshield, screw in 4 bolts, take bigger bolt with washer and screw it into the braket of the intercooler mount and you have a very nice bling bling addition in your engine bay AND it's 100% functional...heheh :-)

I had to scrounge up a metric socket head cap screw to bolt my shield to the mount. Guess I should slip a washer uder there too, huh? :D

Something else I didn't expect, but have come to enjoy...the "roar" that comes from the chimney at higher RPMs. Sounds nice...

Any people interested in the 2004+ SMP Chimney Heat Shield, please respond. I am trying to gauge an interest in this product. So far, the response has been low. Stainless pricing is rising - so I am trying to justify development/mfg. If there is less than 20 or so people interested, ROI on the product falls flat.
