View Full Version : Are these correct wheel choices for '04 STi ?

Hello fellow enthusiasts!

I have read through the FAQ’s and some other posts here in the tire/wheel section and "think" I understand offset, wheel sizing, and tire selection to a degree. My dilemma is my girlfriend was driving my STi and curbed my rear passenger wheel. Only slightly damaged the bead of the lip, more of a scuff, about 1/8 inch deep and less than 1/2 inch wide, but enough to make me consider new wheels. I will keep the stock BBS wheels for winter tires, get them restored, repaired, & repainted. Now want to purchase new wheels for the summer. Here is what I have narrowed my "wish-list" down to. Please let me know if these will work and if the offset(s) I have chosen are correct. Thanks!!

1st Choice:

---18" Prodrive P1 - Crystal Titanium - 18 x 7.5" +46 offset.

2nd Choice:

---18" Prodrive GC-010 - British Black - 18 x 8.0 +43 offset.

Or (not sure which offset & width would be best)

---18" Prodrive GC-010 - British Black - 18 x 7.5 +48 offset.

3rd Choice:

---18" Prodrive PFF-7 - Bright Flitter - 18 x 8 +51 offset.

I prefer wheels with more than 6 spokes, 10 spokes or more being ideal. At this time I've only really looked at Prodrive's wheels, and start to investigate others. My main concern is, will the P1's clear my breaks & is the chosen offset going to properly center the wheel/tires? Thank you for any help you all can provide.

Peace

Jason

I love my STi :)

Very similar to Prodrive GC-06's. Sorta, and I am assuming the ET48 is the offset? Tirerack has SSR Comp-H's Anthracite w/Machined Lip - $429.00 not bad...

I was browsing through tirerack and just saw rims that I have totally fallen in love with .. OZ Racing Supertourismo GT's .. oh or .. Moda R3's .. no wait .. AMG 230's ... Probably none of which will fit or work properly with the STi ... I guess one can dream ... If only they would work on an STi, I can always get them painted Anthracite ... mmmm 15 spokes mmmmm ... oh well, I guess I will just keep looking. Thanks for the suggestion Luke !!

18x8" +43mm GC-010s will fit your STi, while the 18x7.5" +48mm version will not. The other two choices will fit just fine (with those offsets). Hopefully my British Black GC-010s will get here soon... :p

Someone must have stolen my 2004 Java Pearl Black Impreza WRX STi right out from under my nose. I drove it to work this afternoon, parked in my usual spot, said hi to the security guard, badged in to the building, and began my day. Decided to log in to NASIOC and check up on some posts, and low-n-behold. My STi had become a Yugo... I think, this can't be true, but sure enough I run out to the parking lot, and there sit's a shiny new 2004, black Yugo with a hugo hood scoop, and an even more hugo rear wing. I couldn't believe it, and to my suprise my alarm & key both worked. I start her up, switch into gear and drive off... Well, hopefully by tomorrow it will turn back in to my STi, although the Yugo was just as fast.. :)

Happy April Fools.. nice trick..

Man GC-010's are so darn expensive. $2500+ for a set, and I still need tires... speaking of which... If i'm gonna go with the ultimate rims, to match it up right I might as well go with some ultimate tires..

How about Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's ??

Now the question is what would be the right size for proper fit and performance on the GC-010's 18x8 +43mm.. anyone?

I contacted Prodrive-USA a while back, and they recommended 225/40/18 Bridgestone S-03s for the 18x8" Subaru fitment.

why not 235/40/18 to take advantage of the extra .5" width?
