Hey Gang,

This is the transplanted Canadian dood in El Paso. I feel like I'm the only hooligan in town here. So far I've seen one WRX and it was more bling than dirt.

The local El Paso dealership is a joke and I'm willing to go to Tucson to have my car worked on. SO I got some questions for you:

Is there anyone in or near El paso that might want to go desert driving with me? I've found some cool roads and there's plenty of danger to keep everyone excited so come on out! You can dodge the drug runners, escape the border patrol and swerve to try and miss the cows.. it's a hoot!

Is there a good place in Tucson that can install my H6 rear rotors, bearings, front rotors/pads, sway bars, etc? What's the best dealership there for this work?

How long of a drive is it from El Paso to Quartzsite AZ, I may drop by to the see the rally.

So.... if any of you Americans want to meet up and get schooled by ME! (heheh) Then get off the pot and drop by. Thanks for your help and hope to hook up for some desert terror runs.

Mark

Supposidly the Tucson dealer's service dept is pretty cool, but I dunno, I haven't had enough experience with them. "Emich"

I don't quite recall where Quartzsite, AZ is...but I think its closer to the NM AZ boarder...so prolly 3-4-5-6 hours from El Paso..

As for "Desert terror runs"...my car, she is too slow, and too pretty to get out in the dirt :P

If you want some interesting Group Drive action check out the monthly trips out of Tucson posted here, usually something like "Tucson Performance Car Drive"....we usually run some pretty cool roads and rarely go less than twice the posted speed limit :P

Anyways, good luck. As I recall, there were some people looking for some dirt roads/dried up lake beds to take their cars out to some weeks back, maybe you should search through this forum...

Garcia Subaru in Albuquerque is a great place to get your car worked on. They do some good stuff for our rally car.

Hmm. My brother lives in El Paso and he likes to drive off road...

He has a Silver 03 WRX and lives on the west side.

He is kind of busy though, but I'll direct him to this thread to see if he might have some sort of interest.

Emich has a decent Service department, they seem to be ok with most mods (headers, struts, springs, exhaust, sway bars, etc.). They can sometimes be busy, so call before you head out here. I've never gotten work done the same day, i've always had to make an appointment, usually 4+ days in advance.

Yeah, Quarztsite is a bit of a drive, 550 miles, but I might just leave tonight for day of action. No spectators are allowed on the Yuma proving grounds so the only way to see the action is to be a volunteer.

Where is Emich, is that the same as Garcia in Alb?

I too live on the west side, PsychoSoldier, so let your brother know that I'm game whenever. thanks for all your help.

Check out my post in the warranty forum about my experience with Emich. Short version is that it has been good so far. Second the notion of them being very busy. Rather disconcerting though to see some the mechanics in the Mr. Goodwrench out fit though.
