View Full Version : Sick of door dings

speedmonkee

I am tired of door dings! So I ordered couple of sets of new side mouldings for my door. Totally look stock! Really easy to install. Just cut to length with a pair of garden shears and apply! That's it!

I've already have had a bunch of Suby owners compliment me on my car - looks stock. They do protect you from most idiots that park too close!

Intro pricing of $85.99 + shipping. Color coated from the factory to match as closely as possible to the following colors: WRB, Black, White, Silver. Also available unpainted - so you can match exactly to your car.

Will post pics soon.

Here we go.

Heres a pic of the product as shipped. Commercial grade double sided tape - ensures a good fit. Note the tips of the trim - very OEM looking.

Just installed. Note I installed it above the door crease line since most of the dings I got were above this line. Some customers have installed it below this line - for aesthetics. I went for practicality. Its up to you - you can cut it to your liking. I was thinking about doing it in black - to match the other trim on the car - but wanted to check out the liquid silver color - its pretty close - not perfect - but then again, I am no show car - this is my daily driver!

Yup, definitely a good idea- I have the STi sticker son my wagon just like yours Jeremy, so I guess I'd be moving the stickers, or removing them altogether. Will these be offered in colors? Mine is Midnight Black.

so i have to trim it myself? i guess my concern would be that if ordered the wrb door trim and then trimmed it to size, you would be able to see the black plastic on the ends. if this is not the case, i will definitely be interested.

It looks like the color goes all the way through in the pics. Jeremy, when will a link to these be up?

The color does not go all the way through the trim - about a few millimeters. (its white/greyish underneath)When you cut it, you should cut it at an 80 degree angle so that the trim follows the line flow of the car. I just got some touchup paint and voila - I have a great trim on my car.

Black is the only color - which is the exception to the above - as black goes all the way through it - (at least the one I have).

Once cut, you can see the difference between the colored outer sheath and the inner body of the trim. I just used touch up paint so that it would look good when you opened the doors - not that you would really see it. Details, details!

my decision is if I want black or silver...

speedmonkee
10-05-2004, 02:26 PM
Silver is the platinum silver like on the pics of my car..
There is another silver known as the champagne silver (slightly darker)- but most people just go black or the unpainted and have it match perfectly.

What are they made off? What type of material? And are they custom fabricated at your shop or are you getting them from someone else?

Made of preformed formed plastic with automotive grade 3M tape. This is top notch stuff used by professionals and automotive specialists. Look at the results. A "stock" like appearance.

How wide and long (in inches) are these side moldings?

Thanks.

speedmonkee

7 ft long each side. More than enough to do your car.
1 3/8" width - perfect for the application.

Thickness - about .5" or so.

speedmonkee

I don't recall any white ones sold through this site. So, I think you will be waiting a long time.

I'll take a pic of the white and you can make heads or tails of the color, otherwise, I suggest the unpainted (& custom painting them) or using the black version like the stock trim pieces for contrast.
