Finally got a good test drive done earlier today, and as I expected I was very impressed. I've driven other Subies before (Legacy wagons), and always like them. So, a few minutes ago, I placed an order for a silverthorn RS coupe with greenlight.com. Figured that with the $250 rebate they're offering the deal is coming out to $50 under invoice. I'm curious to see how long it will take them to locate one, and am *very* excited to get my hands on it!!

BTW... I'm Dave, hi all http://208.9.184.67/NonCGI/smile.gif

Dave, I ordered mine in the beginning of April. First if u just want a scooby with no stereo upgrades you must order it since subaru dosn't like to sell RS's without it. It shouldn't take long for you to locate one otherwise (hopefully you find exactly what you want) else your going to have to wait 5 to 6 weeks for it. and thats tough. believe me http://208.9.184.67/NonCGI/frown.gif

Hello,

I figured I would post an update on my RS order, since I took delivery of it LAST SATURDAY!! Yep, it took a total of two weeks from order to delivery, and I got the exact car I wanted. I wasn't too particular about the color (any color except for red was fine), and Greenlight.com was able to locate a BRP one with my selected options (security package and floormats) in a little over a week. All in all my experience with Greenlight has been great. After a few initial communication problems, they were very responsive and always courteous. I'm still amazed at how easy this whole process has been. It's my first new car, and I was pretty apprehensive about having to bargain at a dealer and having the thumbscrews put on. Turns out that by doing things online, I didn't have to see a dealer except to pick up the car, AND I got it at invoice cost! I would definitely recommend greenlight.com to anyone considering buying a new car (even if it's not a subaru http://208.9.184.67/NonCGI/wink.gif ).

Now... I'm definitely interested in anyone with suggestions for a tuning program that focuses on fast road driving, with the occasional autoX.

perfunctory disclaimer: I am a customer voicing my opinion. In no way am I affiliated or do I have any financial stake in greenlight.com.

Welcome Dave.
So Greenlight has treated you well, huh? I too will be getting an RS SOON, and I am a little apprehensive about doing business with a dealership. Maybe I will give them a try. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome, folks... I have indeed been lurking for a few months, and this board was one of the most convincing arguments in my purchasing decision. I considered the VW GTI 1.8T long and hard, but since taking delivery of the RS, I've not looked back for a second.
