View Full Version : "Introduce Yourself" Thread
Justin962 04-13-2004, 06:29 PM I'm sure people, like myself, haven't been posting much ( if anything at all ) because they don't quite know everyone. So I am going to bring back the middle school tradition of introducing yourself. :D Hopefully this will increase the amount of members.
Just say who you are, what you drive, where you live, what mods are on your car, etc. You can also post your AIM or email down if you want.
I'm Justin. I live in west Fort Worth and I am currently driving a 2004 wrx sedan. On my car, I have a helix downpipe & spt catback & sitting in my garage is a blitz fmic, td-05 20g, 785cc injectors, fuel pump, uppipe, and a boost controller. Because I am smart, I waited last to get an ECU, which has caused me for all these parts to wait ( I figured all my parts would come in one weekend and install everything in at once, but then my eye caught the accessport / and since then, I've waiting forever ) and trying to find a turbo timer with the little money I have left over. My email is justin962@hotmail.com and my AIM name is - yep you guessed it.. justin962 I hope I get to meet all of you at one point or another.
Justin
Oh, I also enjoy sitting by the fire and taking long walks on the beach.

When funds allow, I compete in various racing series. If it has 4 wheels I'm all over it. I work for Houston Indoor Karting and have a small IT Consulting Company, Revo1. I'll soon be competing in the Big Bend Open Road Race and soon after in the Nevada Silver State Classic. After competing in the Open Road Races the car will be getting prepared to enter the U.S. Touring Car Championship. Piloting my 02 Subbie will be my friend Davy Jones and myself. I like shooting pool, good looking girls and my two favorite drinks are Basil Hayden on the rocks or Jack straight up.

This is my Subbie

4_door_granny_sedan 04-13-2004, 08:26 PM Reed Fiegener. I drive a stock Blue '03 WRX. My username comes from when my friends and I were joking about how some insurance companys might see the car on paper (unfortunately it's not that way). I am currently a student at DeVry in Irving (1 other WRX owner there that I know of, posts here as well).
I love the car and would love to dump tons of money into it, but I'm pretty much broke....all the time. Seems like when I earn some money to get some fun parts some emergency or disaster of some sort will happen and then I'm broke again, heh. So for now I'm just upgrading the driver.
I work in Lewisville at Aero Hobbies (shameless plug) and probably have one of the coolest jobs here (I get to play with all the cool toys and not have to pay for em). We deal mainly with R/C aircraft and focus on helicopters, but we still do a lot of the car stuff as well. Feel free to drop by some time and maby even spend some $$! haha.

Hey, I spotted you at Eckerds in Carrolton on Monday!
Nice car
ripvw 04-14-2004, 09:54 AM Hi, my name is Gary and I'm a compulsive parts purchaser...
So far, I've bought the following parts for my '02 WRB wagon:
Prodrive springs
Whiteline comfort ALK, front and rear alloy endlinks, steering rack bushings, camber bolts and rear swaybar mounts
SuperPro front control arm bushings and front swaybar bushings
OEM 20mm swaybar
Noltec and STI strut tops
Prodrive shiftknob, Kartboy shifter bushings, and shifter trim
and most recently
Rota royal steel gray Attacks with chrome McGard spline drive lugs
Of course, I haven't put any of this stuff on the car - except for the Prodrive shift knob - as I don't believe in modifying cars like the WRX that come so carefully tuned from the factory with that perfect blend of performance and comfort. I mean, consider the choice of RE-92's as the stock tires - need I say more?
To tell the truth, I starting buying parts for my car on the advice of my therapist ever since my unfortunate "road rage" incident a year ago. He bought me a copy of Fred Puhn's excellent book "How to make your car parts into decorative home accessories", with a forward by Martha Stewart. Lots of people are only familiar with Fred's other book on handling, but let me tell you he has a keen sense of style - I heartily recommend the book.
In any case, I've been crafting various items from the parts I've purchased and it's really been very helpful in redirecting my energy in a more positive and socially acceptable manner. To say nothing of the difference it's made in the look of my home. I never would have guessed that 20mm swaybar bushings make perfect knapkin holders.
Well, I just wanted to say hi and let you know that although I rarely post in this forum I do read it every day and I enjoy hearing about your various get-togethers and events. I'm under doctor's orders to limit my direct contact with people right now - so it may be awhilie before I can join you at Nicks or Hooters, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking about you guys.
I post mostly in the technical forums. It's kind of fun pretending that I know what I'm talking about - and it's so easy to mislead people into buying stuff that will never fit their car. Like the time I convinced that guy from Tennessee that he could put 18x9 wheels on his GC without having to roll his fenders by just adding 10 degrees of negative camber - but that's another story.
Thanks for listening.

Great idea, Rob. Now if you didn't destroy yours... ;) Seriously, I may need to get a set of RS wheels later, since I'm eventually planning on moving to 4-pots in the front and 2-pots in the rear. So....RS wheels may be in my future. It HAS to look stock! :D

Mods are: 17" Rota Subzeros w/215-45 Goodyear F1's, Goodridge brake lines, Speed Bleeders, Super Blue, Kartboy end links and long exhaust hangers, 20mm sedan rear swaybar, Whiteline rear strut brace, TXS Stealthback, Speedmonkee SST Heat Shield/Chimney, replica mesh fog covers, homemade grounding mod, rear cupholder (bling!), Sony 3-ways in the doors

perret318 04-14-2004, 02:15 PM Hi, I'm Paul. I grew up in New Orleans, LA, then moved out to Fort Worth for a software engineering job after graduating from Tulane with BS in Computer Engineering.
I'm 25, just got my Rex last October, though I've only been in possession of it for half the time I've owned it. Last December, I was down in New Orleans visiting my family for the holidays, and I went to play some football with a bunch of friends. Well, I got the kickoff and was running around the left side, and two guys started to tackle me. I tried to spin to the right, but my left foot planted and I heard "snap, crackle, pop" as I went down. When I sat up, my left foot was hanging off to the side. Long story short, I had to have surgery and was forced to fly back to TX sans my car. I just went down to pick it up three weeks ago (and I still walk gimpy and can't really run).
But now that it's back, I made it out to the local mini-meet last Friday night and truly enjoyed hitting some backroads curves at insane speeds in the middle of a Subaru convoy. :D
So that's me.

I was going to say to Sully that "that's a great joke!" (I'll let him give the p-line though, in case folks haven't heard it before...), but I have to admit, this one from Jeff trumps it (probably b/c I hadn't heard Jeff's before)... both brought good laughs though... which I sorely needed after work today.

Okies do noodle (http://www.okienoodling.com/) though, and that's weird enough.

maclif 04-15-2004, 10:55 PM I'm Clif, live in north Dallas (Little Elm).
Used to own an 02 white sedan WRX (bought aug 01). Traded it in at SoD about six months ago for an 04 silver XS Forester.
Wife drives that now, I drive [cough] 99 Escort.
Drooling over the GT and that new grey for an STi...
Always curious - anyone buy a 02 white rex sedan from SoD last fall? Babied the heck out of that car, hoping someone caring bought it. :)
totald 04-15-2004, 11:08 PM Is that new grey for the STi a definite go?

I think so, but I don't really know. I wouldn't be buying two new vehicles in one year anyway. So, I might as dream as I see fit.

jmacdonald801 04-17-2004, 03:51 PM I'm Jimbo, and I'm a recovering Honda addict lol.
My most recent car was a '97 Integra Type-R that I spent more than the price of the car upgrading. After replacing a motor and turbos and all kind of over stuff, I gave up on being a front wheel drive ricer and decided to put down on an '05 STI. Time to get to power and traction out of the box (Type-R did have it's place at one time).
I went down to Modern Garage/Cobb Engineering yesterday and was personally treated to a lighlty upgraded STI demonstration and the future is bright :D
Long live traction!

I do have an exhaust coming in the mail that will be here on thursday. Blitz rear section with Apexi midpipe. I'm sure that after I put that on I won't want to sell the RS. Look, I changed my mind again.

The only mods I've done so far are a boost gauge, gutted up-pipe, headlight mod, and fog light mod. Next mods are going to be turbo back and engine management.

Blitzkrieg 04-18-2004, 08:14 PM Names, Brian,
I prefer Rum and coke to beer, and i have yet to really go to any meets. I have been browzing this board since Gay pontiac (dickinson) decided to ditch their subaru dealership in order to keep their buick department, one or the other. Im currently in college studying to be a teacher. My car is nothing special, except for maybe one mod.

imprezap1 04-18-2004, 09:06 PM My name is Lee. I have two weeks left in Italy after 3 years of living here. I wouldn't suggest living here though. Total third world country. I have had nothing but oily Italian food for 3 years. I am transplanting to Houston from here and have heard nothing but good things. I currntly drive a modestly modded 1993 volvo 960 turbo. Have pushed it to right at 160mph on the autostrada past a cop and didn't even get noticed.
I was going to bring it back but got the subaru bug again and am furiously looking for the right gc8 to start building.
