Its tapped on the main. on the #4 cylinder, and when it gets even the smallest amount wet, the gauge acts NUTS!

The splashshield/skidplate covers it full so Im not sure what to do... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Mine just started doing this too. I have it tapped on the driver's side header.

Might be the probe crapping out. I've had mine for 25k now.

Mine does that after getting wet by a heavy rain or washing the engine. when dry, it's normal.

Weird, huh?

Same boat here!

Im just worried that it will shorten the life of the probe...

Ditto... 'cept in mine the lighting is flickery, not the needle... when it's wet out. No farkign clue why... there must be some whacky ass grounding issue with the probe.

i'm worried that it will shorten the life of the gauge itself, with the needle jerking around so erratically.

luckily it finally stopped raining here on the east coast, so my gauge is back to normal.

Bump.

My Greddy gauge started having the same problem (I think Omori gauges use exactly the same probe)... Needle jerks around when it's wet or just really humid. When there is no water on the ground, the problem usually goes away after 15-20 munutes of driving. When the road is wet, it doesn't go away... which leads me to believe that the insulation of the probe cable is damaged and moisture gets in...

Moisture is what does it, mine did it even when it was new, a replacement probe fixed the problem. I sold the gauges but I am sure after some time the problem would come back.

The EGT gauge would go NUTS if snow got up in near it

In the same boat.

Bought a replacement probe, didn't install it yet, and it seems to work fine all the time now... go figure

How much was the probe, $50-$60 or so?

Has anyone tried spraying the probe cable with WD-40? I might do it on the next oil change for the heck of it... This trick did wonders on cracked spark plug cables in the GL I used to have looong time ago

My replacement probe was 80 freaking bucks from J-Spec.

sorry to be off topic here, but i just purchased a DEFI EGT gauge, now where is the best place to put the sensor/prob, Uppipe or Manifold? Also what gaskets as required. Thanks.

In the drivers side mani, youll see a casting 'button' to drill/tap into.
