What would you choose and why? Given same, price milage, and condition.

EJ207DW5CR/CJ or EJ207DW4ER

v.8 RA V.7 RA(i believe)

They are both the same price, around same milage, and both look great. Im picking up one of them saturday and am trying to make my mind. The Version 8 has twin scroll and the Version 7 does not. If i get the twinscroll and decide to sell the entire setup can i revert back to version 7/normal sti status by just changing headers/turbo/downpipe or do i have to change oil pan and everything else too?

Which is easier to swap into a 99 RS?

I assume the version 8 would be harder?

They dont include the wiring harness for the ecu :(. They just cut all the wires at the engine.

Would a V.7 harness work with a V.8?

thanks

That will be a bitch of a swap without the harness. You should start by getting a USDM WRX harness and having someone who is familiar with the swap (like I-Speed in CA) work the needed wiring in. As far as the ver 7 harness working with a ver 8 ECU and motor... I think it will. This is a link to a guy running a ver 7 motor on a ver 8 ECU with ver 7 wiring LINK (http://www.pdxtuning.com/featuredcars/adam/default.htm) . It is essentially the same motor. Only the turbo setup is different...

welll

dunno on the engien codes
but you coudl sell the twin scroll and replace it with aftermarket headdrs/new oil pan/vf-34 and make a profit as complete kits go for ~2k

be sure to get the down pipe

and niether is harder, very simmilar in fact, both really ugly w/o a harness

Well i would think the v7 is easier without a harness. As kreeger mentioned you could take a wrx harness and use that, and then just wire in the avcs. The v8 would be a little harder as there are more wires that are different compared to the wrx harness and a v7. Plus i've seen some jdm sti v7 harness selling used for pretty cheap, but i've not seen v8's. (not to say you couldn't find one)

The v7 RA motor is great. The one reason i'd go for the v8 is that you could sell the twinscroll setup and then get yourself a setup for cheaper. But i'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Honestly if i were you i would go with the v7 forged motor. Either way you can't really go wrong. :)

what extra wiring is there on a v.8 over a v.7 ?

How much do these wiring harness' usually cost? Around 500 or so?

1. None.

2. Yup, about that.
