I have searched and searched...
I am looking for a tire w/ decent wet traction, limited dry traction on straits, and good traction in the turns on dry pavement.
I am looking for something that will spin, as not to destroy my tranny, but will perform moderately well in autox.
My first inclination is the dunlop sp5000.
Any thoughts?

I know of a few people using the Ecsta 711 from Kumho for the same reasons your want a less than stellar performing tire .... but in reality you can using an extremely grippy tire and drive and launch your car correctly and not break stuff ....

Something that will "spin" will probably also be something that will slide. Not the best Auto-X solution.
Try Kumho MX or Falken Azenis.
A proper launch will briefly spin nearly any tire -- including R compounds.

I went with the kumho ecsta asx... I'll let everyone know how it holds up.
I thought again, and decided I needed some tires that can handle rain because of where I am at.

yes, pls. post your experience w/ this tire.
i got the ASX too (225/50/16 on 5-spoke 16x7 RS wheels) and have at least 500 miles on them - have driven it in rain and some twisty roads and so far it's performing well here in the NW :D
