Tell me what you think...its worth it to have

1. Nice tires with knock off rims (i.e. ROTA)

2. Nice rims with cheap tires (i.e. Nankang)

3. both nice tires and rims....but most people can't afford both....:(

The wheels last longer so go cheap on the tires. Plus they have some really nice cheap tires like the HTR+.

Nice rim with crapy tires first if you can't afford them both at the same time, then get nice tires when the crappy tires are used up.

First off most of us really like our Rotas . So its hard to consider them as "cheap" wheels when you consider the customer service history associated with them . That being said get the Rota style you like and as much tire you can afford and be confidant in the fact that as long as you dont plan to rallycross your wheels you should be very pleased with you purchase .;)

You want to go fast, or you want bling bling?
Tires for go fast, rims for bling bling....

The Hancook tires are inexpensive, but have been reported to perform fairly well....and for ~$100ea, you can get a more widely known tire.

It would really suck if you bought nice rims and junk tires and totaled your car 'cuz the tires sucked

I agree with what Uncle Scotty said. I was very happy with my rota's and I can't stress enough how good tires are a must. Totalled my wrx with the crappy winter tires on it. The deer helped out too.

yup...get some rotas, and chuck on the best tire you can...it's been said before, but there's no point paying $2000+ for some rims for a $25000 car.

Get some Rota wheels (used ones to save even more!!! I bought my used battle for $270). Use the saving for nice tires :)

I would go for good tires and less expensive wheels.

I was thinking of going with the Rota Formel ($600 for a set of 17") and Bridgestone Potenza S-03 PP or Falken Azenis myself.

to echo what everyone else here said (unless you get a deal in the private classified section...lots o good deals there) you could go rota's and azeni's for a combo at, around, or even under $1000...just do some searchin:)

tires, tires, tires. Buying awesome tires for your stock rims will boost the performance of your car a lot more than buying rims with crap tires.

I chose 17x7 Kazera KZ-S rims and Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S. The wheels were $130 each and the tires $120 each(?).

Then last weekend I saw an STI with 17" Rota Tarmac IIs in a light grey/pewter color and winter tires. They looked a LOT better than there pictures and my Kazeras. The Tarmac IIs usually go for $650 shipped for 4. They also clear the STI's Brembo calipers. But not by much. Those suckers are HUGE!

Anybody know what the Rota color is called? The STI in Danbury, CT and blue.
