View Full Version : How much boost on a ej257 AntonioS 04-22-2004, 03:58 AM I have engine management and upgrade fuel system I just want to know how much boost I can run properly tuned ?? WorldOne 04-22-2004, 04:59 AM This question depends on the turbo you are running, the fuel system components you are using, and the gas that you are running. You will need to supply a good bit more info before we can accurately answer your question. Different boost levels for different situations is a good rule of thumb and of course, your tune is everything. My setup for example is an FP green, and 750cc injectors. Tuned on C16 24-26 psi with no detonation was not a problem. However this is largely due to characteristics of the fuel. My 91 octane street map is 21-22lbs with once again, not an ounce of detonation. The FP green in a very efficient turbo, this combined with plenty of fuel, supporting mods and one hell of a tune have created fabulous knock free results. Put all these pieces together before subjecting your EJ257 to lots-o-boost and you will be a much happier person. That was with 3 springs holding the wastegate shut. :) But, fully ported heads... 264 JUN cams, etc etc etc. It was designed for the 2 liter, it's funny to say it's too small. -Mike |
