NinosAutoAccesories 04-22-2004, 02:58 PM No, but they come with rings.Of coarse, the quality of the wheel and 180 degree perfect design make it so they work perfectly even without the rings. skyhawk 04-22-2004, 07:11 PM Originally posted by twlai are they hubcentric for suby? Do you mount tires? Willyip 04-24-2004, 08:58 PM Does Enkei make 18" for RPF-1 in Gold? Thanks jamesohoh7 04-25-2004, 11:00 AM Originally posted by skyhawk What does that mean, what are you talking about? Please fill me in, sorry for being a noob. Hubcentric means that the wheel doesn't require an 'insert' ring to make the wheel fit closely over the hub. It's like this: the inner diameter of the middle of the wheel contains a hole in it to let the nose of the hub 'register' into the back side of the wheel. I may not be providing a very good mental image there b/c I'm struggling to find the correct terminology for ya, but the basic gist is that a hub-ring is a ring that 'fills in the gap' from the wheel to the hub w/respect to the middle of the wheel-hub (the part that contains the bearings... it's what's left on the car when you pull the rotor off). Anyway, the ring does -not- space the wheel in or out w/respect to the backspacing... it's strictly for fittment of the wheel to the hub. The purpose of the ring is to keep the wheel from moving around under rotational forces w/respect to being centered over the hub. Think about this: if you take your finger and spin a frisbee around by the lip, like a plate, this is a very exaggerated example of what would happen to your wheel if it was not hubcentric, and the stud-holes were overly large, and the wheel lacked a ring =AND= it decided to move around (became loose for some reason). Your finger is the hub in this example. If you imagine then that the back of the frisbee had no lip and only a hole, just big enough for your finger, right in the center of the frisbee, you could only spin it in such a way that it wouldn't 'wobble' (presuming the frisbee was sufficiently round). Normally, properly torquing the lugs keeps the wheel fixed, but accidents happen.. or if you threw a wheel weight, the out-of-balance condition can cause lots of trouble. Bottom line: get the hub-rings and use 'em if the wheel requires them. I -believe- the vendor is saying that b/c the wheel is made w/tight tolerances on the lug-holes that the wheel would probably not move around even w/out the ring... but I will defer to them to actually clarify that if they want :) -James Cosworth 04-30-2004, 10:55 AM Originally posted by jamesohoh7 I -believe- the vendor is saying that b/c the wheel is made w/tight tolerances on the lug-holes that the wheel would probably not move around even w/out the ring... but I will defer to them to actually clarify that if they want :) -James In addition, the wheels are made with such good balance from the start, they often need less or no weights at all to balance properly (also depending on the tire), thus creating a situation that is not conducive to vibration even when not using hubcentric rings. I have RPF-1's and when i initially had my tires mounted and balanaced (with S03's), 2 wheels required no weights. They are truly nice wheels. I can't wait until those new RP03's come out! jblaine 04-30-2004, 01:30 PM I want some RPF-1s in gunmetal! :( Doodie. jamesohoh7 05-01-2004, 12:01 PM Originally posted by Cosworth I can't wait until those new RP03's come out! I've tried them and they didn't seem to fit to me *shrug* I'm planning on upgrading to the 18x7.5 +50s once I get a BBK for that very reason. Nothin' against ya Nino (who is an awesome seller BTW), just a little caveat. If I'm wrong lemme know because I'd really like to know if my wheels really will fit over Stoptechs :) (oh yeah, and they are KILLER wheels which is why I want to get the same thing but bigger... there's no way I'm sacrificing that killer style for a BBK) Just a quick pict of what they look like on my car: http://www.pbase.com/image/27130328/medium.jpg Vostok 7 NinosAutoAccesories 05-24-2004, 10:51 AM You are correct Vostok, The 17's dont clear,I added the RPM2 to the post after it was all written up ThatSteveGuy 05-24-2004, 01:56 PM Originally posted by ThatSteveGuy Any news?
