I have a kenwood aftermarket HU with stock speakers. Considering that I installed the HU myself, how much harder is it to install an Amp and a Sub?
Tried doing searches, but couldn't find any good links for instructions. Even tried scoobymods.
Any one can lead the way?
Also, how long would it take?
Thanks. It's just a simple Amp and single sub. Nothing fancy.

very very very easy... you will need Amp Wireing kit... .or can just buy in in parts... i would recommect to go with the kit (it has everything you need.) if its simple amp and single sub... go with 8 Gauge Kit. and when you buy the kit it will have basic digram of the wiring on the back.... so simply.
Run positive Power wire from your battary to your amp (use inline fuse)
Connect RCAs to the back of your head unit. (for sub out they are usually marked) and connect Amp turn on wire to Blue Power Antenna wire.... then run Rca and Turn on lead to the amp.
Make ground wire for the amp as short as you can. and ground it to the metal body of the car.
and you all done.
If your amp is small, I suggest installing it under the seat. I put some industrial grade velcro on mine and it holds it better than screws. You have to take the seat off for this operation though. But when evrything is in place, it's a complete stealth install and you don't waiste any space.

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but do not run the RCA cables and the power cables together! You'll get unwanted noise. I ran mine on each side of the center console which seems to work fine.

Thanks for your replies so far. I'm planning to install this myself and I a few more n00b questions:
Do you run the wires underneath the carpet? Any good "how-to" links for installing wires? Is it easy?
Also, you mentiond to run the power off the battery.. how do you get the wire from the hood compartment into the cabin? LOL
Thanks again!

There should be an entrance into the cabin through the opening above the clutch. If you get down there, you'll see about a foot above where the clutch would be, a circle cutout. You should be able to feed the power wire through there.
Most of the wires can be stuffed inside the 'plastic', like for me, I ran them down the center console and I hid them underneath the plastic. Once I got towards the backseats, I stuffed them into the cracks between the cushions. For any exposed wire, I used wire loom to protect it.

This location is usually called a firewall grommet (or firewall pass-through). There is some info on it around scoobymods.com and here if you do some searching. I believe they have some pics and tips on feeding wire through there.
Also, you should really check out...

If you can, read through the whole site from the begining as it can be very helpful. If you don't want to wade through the electrical partsm make sure to go to section 19 on the right called Installation Primer and 23 Amplifiers. And also before installing anything make sure to read section 14 on Fuses; like the page says, it is the most important page on there.
