View Full Version : Utec resolution compared with XEDE's?

Xede advertise that their resolution is better than stock ECU's and that all other aftermarket engine management has lower than stock ECU resolution.

My question is, what is the resolution data on Utec?

anyone?

11x35 I believe

It's hard to compare because they use different systems.

As I understand the XEDE has fewer 'cells' but you can define exactly where the breakpoints are.

The UTEC has breakpoints every 250RPM with no ability to move them, there are 11 load sites ( 0 - 100% by 10% increments)

So in a way the UTEC has better resolution (more cells), and in a way the XEDE has better resolution (programmable breakpoints)

If you look at the UTEC maps available you can really define them pretty well with fewer breakpoints and auto-interpolation in-between those points.

I don't know if the XEDE interpolates between load sites (I believe it does...so called four point interpolation), but the UTEC doesn't, which could be a drawback in comparing overall resolution.

Resolution is at least adequate for either solution. I wouldn't make a decision solely on resolution.

The UTEC does some interpolation. I believe it does with your timing map. I know for sure that it hits points that are not actual map points, i.e. at 4659 you may be running 23.4 degrees timing even though you have 23 and 24 for timing numbers.
