This is the second time my engine light has come on and the car only has 2600 miles on it. Its a 2000 2.5RS and the dealer has replaced the O2 sensor the first time it came on and today it came on again and I have to wait till monday to get looked at. The only mod I have done is made the fog lights work with parking lights. Please tell me why that damn light keeps coming on and that the fogs have nothing to do with it.

Not that you want to hear this, but I think O2 sensor problems are pretty commmon on 2000 MY cars. If I'm not mistaken, they have like 4(?!) differnet sensors, and seem prone to fail. A friend of mine and fellow board junkie is a 2000 owner has had at least SOME warranty work done on them already. My guess is that you'll get some better informed replies later, but at least you know you're "not alone." Continue to piss and moan at the dealer until they fix it. So if your O2 sensor goes bad- the CE light will go on right, or can you also tell if the car starts acting like a dog.... Just a question has nothing to do with my car.

thank you for your replies. JJTHESUBEDRIVER yes the light comes right on when the sensor goes bad and no the car does not act or drive different because it has a limp home mode which runs the car in an open loop thus allowing the rest of the sensors to run at default values
