View Full Version : Sick fascination...the lift kit? On an Impreza?

Call me nuts, but I wonder if anyone has taken the plunge and put the lift kit on the Impreza. I'm utterly fascinated by the idea of an RS up an inch or two. Especially since it would give more room for wheels/tires (I am correct on this, no?).

Yeah, I know, I was dropped on the head a few times as a kid. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/tongue.gif

Just remember, even though the car rides and inch higher, that doesn't mean the wheel well got any wider, nor the fenders. Larger wheels mean smaller tires and the possibility of having to roll the fenders. It might look kinda neat, yes, but you're also altering the center of gravity and handling at the same time.

Jsut imagine an Outback Sport with no hatch. It's raised 20mm. However not my any lift kit though. Just taller springs.

you can order the ground control coilover setup with 8" springs and be able to raise the car about a inch or so over stock

Good morning.

Hmm...the Scorpion lift kit says it's a body lift, which just raises up the body, but that 1.5 in. suspension lift can be acheived too.

Am I wrong to assume that the suspension lift will leave room for bigger tires?

Either way, it would be interesting to see.

Have a good one.

The Imp has no seperate body/frame. It's a unibody, thus you cannot use a conventional body lift,i.e. blocks that raise the body off of the frame.
Tha Scorpion kit, i beleive, uses longer springs to acheive lift.

The Scopion lift kit is a body lift. From what I've seen it is essentially blocks that go above the struts. They space the suspension down 2" from the body/frame. There is also a spring kit, that lifts the car 2". Check out www.autocaresubaru.com (http://www.autocaresubaru.com) for the Scorpion lift kit. Take a look at http://web.one.net.au/~bybsubi/index.htm if you desire more lift.

I have a feeling one of the members in Canada, here in Montreal will atempt to raise his RS with his coilovers. I do not want to give his identity, but if he ever does it, I will make sure to take pictures.
I have a country house and we were angry last winter that we couldn't go into the trails since our RS was too low!
I have a feeling next winter, we won't have any problem!
Take care!
Jan
P.S. We were going to call it MONSTER RS!

Imagine the size of wheels you could put on if you added the fiberglass 22b flared fenders and the scorpion lift kit! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif That would be one bad a$$ off road machine!
