Did you reset your ECU? I got an improvement after doing that.

Disconnect battery overnight and let engine cool off. In the morning reconnect the battery, and be prepared for alarm to sound off and turn it off with remote. Put key in ignition and turn key till idiot lights turn on and stop there, wait two seconds for fuel pressure to come up, and turn key to start engine without touching gas pedal. Let car warm up over about 15 minutes, usually till electric cooling fan comes on (might not though). Once engine warm shut off.

Restart car and drive off demonstrating all styles of driving over the next 20 to 30 minutes, fast, slow, low revs high revs, etc... This will help retrain the ECU.

You might as well wait to do this till you get your AMSOIL filter installed.

One thing you should know, not only do you get more air flow, but the Fuel injection system compensates with more fuel and mileage may suffer. And, the colder the air gets, then the more fuel you use because the temperature sensor will increase fuel supply even more. Expect a 15% drop in fuel economy without an APEX AFC to adjust the Air Fuel ratio.

ok i did diconnecte the battery and let the car sit for 15 minutes and the different driving styles
i didnt wait for the 2 seconds and never shut off the car after the 15 minutes
i guess i'll do that when i get the air filter
can i drive it around the way it is or do i need to add the intake boxes back on?

thanks,
space

What exactly did you do with the intake? I'm guessing that you're still using the stock panel filter. If so, you may not see much performance gain with intake modification til you get a performance filter (K&N or Amsoil).

During ECU reset, you have to start engine, idle for 15-20 min, until the fan cycles, then turn it off, all without ever touching the gas. Then restart and drive around etc.

I saw an improvement with my cold air intake mod, before I got my AMSOIL filter, by doing the reset as I mentioned above.
