View Full Version : Would it be wise to get a 2003?
mingster 02-01-2001, 11:07 PM Newbie here. Would it be wise to get the 2003 model? I bought the 2000 S2000, and I'm telling you that even Honda has a hardtime keeping up with all the TSB (technical service bulletins) for the MY2000. Still, I love my S2000 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
But I drool over the possibilities of a turbocharged 4 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
Now if my wife would let me have 2 toys...
Digital_Boy 02-02-2001, 12:04 AM It's generally a good idea to buy the 2nd year of a newly introduced model line. You avoid the teething problems that always plague any new car, be it Lexus or Subaru....
every year gets better, hell it i'l have 40 more hp in 2 years. you know how it goes, or better yet the next body style.
Other than basically the new chassis and interior this is the same car thats been on sale for the past 7 years throughout the world. The engine and drivetrain haven't had much changes. So you shouldn't worry to much about buying a first year WRX.
HoratioCaine 02-02-2001, 12:59 AM And besides... THIS car has been for sale elsewhere for what? 4-6 months? In RHD form, but that doesn't make a big difference in TSB type stuff. Just watch out for those Friday/Monday cars.
Wait for the kick @ss sti in 2003
Fellow newbie here. You own a S2000? I'm jealous! I would love to have one of those hi-tech roadsters.
Now if my wife would let me have a M/T 2-seater... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Maybe you could convince your wife that the WRX will be your daily driver. Afterall it's a 4-seater sedan with AWD safety and Subaru reliability http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif
I'm hoping that the 2003 is a STi "coupe".
Leonardo 02-02-2001, 05:13 AM I'll keep my sedan till the STi comes out!

Fubaru 05-09-2001, 10:46 PM Does anyone have an idea of what month SoA brings out the 2003 models? Approximately
when will MY03 start to ship stateside?
THanks
Really_Soaked 05-09-2001, 10:50 PM SOA's new model year usually starts around August for most lines.

HoratioCaine 05-09-2001, 11:55 PM OK but are they going to run the '02 until August of '02? They introduced the '02 here WAY early. Everywhere else in the world it's an '01, but because the late intro (extra tooling time for LHD?) they just bumped it to next year.
hmmmm.
XT6Wagon 05-10-2001, 01:25 AM No, its that many makers want the extra large number to make it seem better. They also missed the usual 2001 pack, and they don't want their NEW SEXY CAR compared with the old and outdated 2001's.
Ford did this with the 91? explorer, and the 02 explorer. Caddy has the 02 Escalade.
My bet is the 03 will be mid to late 02 before it arrives.
Just wait and see since you got a S2000 already. Maybe the sti verson might be out in late 2003 or 2004.
John2.5RS 05-10-2001, 08:07 PM Hold out for the STI, you won't regret it! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
Calibretto 05-10-2001, 08:22 PM The 2003 sti may be better, but it's definitely gonna cost ya. at least $3k more
Jon [in CT] 05-10-2001, 10:10 PM I heard the 2003s suck. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif They're more expensive, heavier but still have the same engines as the 2002s.
