hi. I have a MY00 impreza RS. I have finally stripped it and it weighs in at 2695 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif I have the amsoil filter coming... (but my # was a LOT different then the one on here.. hope it's right).. what is the right #? Me and my friend are tring to make a ram air. We already have the entire intake out except forfilter and a little 90 degree hose. we are tring to run a 2 and 1/4 inch hose down through the side out that ****ty piece of plastic on the edge under the parking light. We already have the box made to fit and we are buying the hose tomorrow... I didn't want to use the hood scoop since everyone does it but what do you think about HP gains??? and torque lost? also what is the best intake for 00 imprezas (if this fails)... what else is their to do if you stay N/A besides pulley's, intake, exhaust, cams and such. what kinda times could I expect on slicks at the track? how much HP gains to cobb's cams make? any figures? I'm tyring to stay NA hopefully. hmmm.. that's about it.. I really do appreciate it.. (any more suggestions on getting the car into the 2500 pound range.. thanx... also.. how much drag does the spoiler create and could I fit a nice (not trashy) piece of plexiglass where the intercooler would go with a turbo(or does that cool the radiator).. that would be track only set up. I really appriciate it http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

- 2500lb. range.
What do you have stripped now exactly? The only other things I can think of that aren't as obvious are the weight inside the glove box door, the passenger airbag, and maybe putting a smaller battery in.

- Intake.
Use the hood scoop. That is where you'll get the best coldest air the fastest. You won't get a good intake out of that tiny vent in the bumper. Reference my intake - http://8complex.mwic.org/intake/

- Drag of the spoiler.
Hardly anything, if you're concerned get an L trunklid or a sedan spoiler.

- Plexiglass where the intercooler goes.
First of all, the intercooler normally goes in the hood scoop, not front-mounted in the bumper. Secondly, no you can't put plexiglass over that in the bumper unless you want to sufficate the radiator and overheat the car.

You can get the STI Light Weight Reinforcement Beams available at www.subaruparts.com. (http://www.subaruparts.com.) I think that will shave about 50-70 pounds off (unconfirmed).

I have a lightweight front bumper car for sale. Great condition. How far are you from NJ? Email me... pinochle@hotmail.com

remove the seats and replace front two with racing seats. remove all door panels, remove passenger airbag and replace steering wheel with a airbag less racing wheel. remove unecessary electrical wiring, remove center console. obviously the spare tire and jack, speakers, stereo, aluminum or carbon hood and trunk, lightweight bumper beams, lightweight wheels (15" te37's http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif), plexiglass windows.

the car will be very light, but the interior will look like crap and you will get ALOT of road noise, water hitting under the car sounds like scrapping the car against a wall! but if its for racing purposes then you wouldnt mind. also the cars wieght is very unbalanced, you might want to move the battery to where the passenger seat went.

im sure theres alot more that can be done but thats a start.

as far as intake goes i was very happy with the weapon-r, but i havent tried anyothers it flows very good in the high end, but you definately want to replace the cheapo filter it comes with for a k&n or similar, and you definatley want a cold air box surrounding it, it sucks all of the hot engine heat in. borla is designing new header which go into production this week and will produce nearly 16hp est., they have not been dyno'd yet but they have 4" less piping and better bends than the old 12hp headers, and no rubbing this time. for exhaust you can run a 2.5" straight pipe. i am happy with my 2.25" catback stromung, but i think its loud. shiv used it and loved it on the scc project car before it was turboed. i have no clue what gains you would get from cams, pistons, rods and other engine internals. but if you want to go through all the trouble of doing this work why not just turbo it, have you ever rode in a turbo impreza? it unbelievable!

there are other bolt ons as well that can help you out (pulley, fpr, afc, itc, ignition, tecII).

hope i helped and have fun tuning.
