Stupid question:

Is there only one weight for "STi" 5MT flywheels that will fit an '02 WRX? Somewhere around 12 pounds? Or is there one at 14 or more?

Coati: STi only offers one flywheel upgrade and it's the 12 lb. unit. The OE flywheel from the days of STi cars with the 5MT had a one piece flywheel, but it wasn't a lightweight unit. FYI, the Exedy light weight flywheel for the 5MT is 12.7 lbs.

wsitful: The STi Gp.N hardened rear differential mount assembly is a bit annoying to install, requiring dropping the rear differential. The cheater way to install it requires just removing the two studs which hold the rear end of the diff in place. The bad side of that method is that the studs are threaded into the aluminum backplate of the diff. You wouldn't want to strip those threads!

if i'm dropping the tranny, I might as well do ALL the Grp N. bushings. How many do I need for my STi? Just the front and rear support, right?

wistful: The rear of the diff is supported by a metal assembly with two bushings, while the front is supported by a large T-shaped crossmember with a bushing in each end. RST-4151 & RST-4154. FYI, the STi uses one different bushing than the other chassis's. You can be sure we'll supply the correct bushing.

p.s. and what is RST-2027 for? Does my STi have the steel spacers?

wistful: The rear mount is a mounting braket with two bushings already in it. The front mount is two separate bushings that need to be pressed into the exsisting T-shaped corssmember. RST-2027 replaces the 4 bushings which locate the entire rear suspension crossmember. No Subaru comes with these from the factory, and I wouldn't suggest using them on the street.

WrxSti2000: We've got a couple options for you. Cusco offers are few variations of their clutch type front LSDs, 1way & 1.5way and 2way, all priced at $1150. Kaaz offers a 1.5way for $880. And we can let a used open front diff go for $100, no ring gear, you can reuse the original ring gear.

We've added this to the list:

STi Gp.N R160 differential gaurd kit, used for demonstration, has marks from the floor jack, otherwise in great shape, just one at $125. These are usually $156 brand new. These are also available for the R180, also priced at $156 new.
